6 months? 18 months? 3 years? 6 years? How many more will die till someone says, "O.K., it's over, we lost/won"?

1. The war will end, the occupation won't
Like everything else, they'll just relabel and repackage it.

But we'll never leave. Never.

The Iraqi occupation will end when the Germany, Japanese and Korean occupations end.

2. Bush is touting the lessons of Vietnam so I'd guess 5 years
Edited on Fri Nov-17-06 11:32 AM by kenny blankenship
based on the interval within the overall course of the Vietnam War between the appearance of defeat (1968) and the acceptance of defeat (1973).

Of course we could make it shorter if five more years of this shit seems too long, but I don't want to rush anybody. It's all up to our political decision making process.

3. 2 more years with Bush.
Then, if the Dems win the White House, at least another year to reduce our presence to "adviser status" and another 2 or 3 to leave entirely. If it was up to me, we'd begin leaving tomorrow and be entirely out of there in 6 months. But nobody in government is likely to ask the old Filer's advice anytime soon.

4. I hate the "let's not be hasty" crowd too.
Fuck all that noise and face saving posturing bullshit, if it was me, they'd have been home already in a week.

6. If it had been up to either of us...
we'd never have gone in the first place. Right?

5. Bush will start pulling out in Spring 08
So most of the troops can be home for election day and these bastards can say the Republicans got us out of the war. That's what Rove wants to do.
