In addition, 27,000 troops from smaller active duty units and another 10,000 from reserve units were notified they will deploy to Iraq, too.

The Pentagon also announced that 1,500 troops with the South Carolina National Guard's 218th Combat Brigade Team will deploy to Afghanistan in early 2007.
