The "lessons" Bush says he learned from the Vietnam war didn't include the lives lost
Everyone with a pen and an eye on Vietnam has Bush pegged as a slacker who shirked the very duty he had used to take refuge from deployment to the battlefield where our soldiers were fighting and dying for Nixon's perpetuation of Johnson's war. The "lesson" Bush said today, when he compares the Vietnam War to his own fiasco in Iraq, was that imperialism takes time.

"I think one thing -- yes, I mean, one lesson is, is that we tend to want there to be instant success in the world, and the task in Iraq is going to take a while," Bush mused. No mention was made at all of the effect that stretch of time had on the killing and maiming of our soldiers who were made to prosecute the bloody, ideological misadventures.

1. The SOB..
All he learned was how to hide in plain sight thanks to Daddy while pothers were going to jail for not having a Draft Card in their wallet. It pisses me off he even has the balls to dare open his mouth about it. It takes considerable gumption to show up there at all official capacity or not.

Now just think if it was Clinton, how the rightwing pukes would be wailing to high heaven about where he was during the war!

2. Projection, anyone?
This blob of protoplasm's been looking for instant success since the day he traveled the birth canal. They forgot to tell him real success might involve "hard werk".

3. How embarrassing to make this statement to the entire world;
Only underlining the famous quote that" Those who don't read history are destine to repeat it" Truly the worst President of Modern times, and perhaps ever!

6. Bush, in Vietnam, Says Change Takes Time
On Visit for Economic Summit, President Cites a Lesson for Iraq

Saturday, November 18, 2006; Page A14

{snip}

"History has a long march to it," Bush said when asked how he felt about being hosted by a former U.S. enemy. "Societies change, and relationships can constantly be altered to the good."

His visit has prompted comparisons between the failed U.S. military adventure here and the war in Iraq. Asked whether any lessons from Vietnam apply to the war in Iraq, Bush said: "One lesson is, is that we tend to want there to be instant success in the world, and the task in Iraq is going to take a while."

"It's just going to take a long period of time for the ideology that is hopeful, and that is an ideology of freedom, to overcome an ideology of hate," Bush said. "We'll succeed unless we quit," he added.
