Who wants to do a new Saturday Night Live (one like the old one)?
OK, I dood it. I'm taking a risk and posting this:

I, hsher, better known as Heather, have a background in television and movie production. There is a great public access channel in my town, Albuquerque, New Mexico, that provides a broadcast-level studio, control room, cameras and lights for nothing. Zero. $0.00. They will let you produce and broadcast via stream ANY MATERIAL YOU LIKE, as long as you're not selling anything. I am going to take advantage of this and try something:

How about a public access Saturday Night Live that's funnier and more political than the present-day one? I'm thinking 1975-1979 SNL, with the Not Ready For Prime-Time Players. I'm going to produce this stuff and put it on YouTube. If any of you would be interested in doing this, here is what I need:

1) Any old sets you may know of or have around (I know, big leap of faith here) - kitchens, living rooms, newsrooms, hospital emergency rooms, you name it, I'll take it and come pick it up, no matter where in the U.S. it is

2) Props you might have - you know: that crap lying around in the Anything Drawer and the Everything Room you need to throw away or give to Goodwill? That would be the stuff I'm needin'.

3) Good scripts - so amateur screenwriters out there, this is your call. You won't be paid for this (at first, or even ever, who knows), but I WILL credit you, and your material WILL be seen on the Channel 27 stream which is worldwide and being watched, and on YouTube. Jon Stewart may see it and hire you. Woo hoo.

4) Players - I need weird people, funny folks. People with comic timing who hopefully have never done this professionally before, so you will be fresh and new on camera. I want to discover the next Belushi, Aykroyd, Radner, Chevy Chase and company. Here's the unfortunate catch: you must be able to come to Albuquerque and hang out for a few days, taping. I can put you up, but I cannot fly you here. So you gotta find a way out here. Think hippie. Find a minibus or something. Don't just think Delta, think out of the box and suffer for this.

Anyway, I'm putting this out there. If there's no interest, I'll do it anyway probably, but if there IS interest, how much cooler will it look years from now that this started on DU as a DU thing?

We'll make history :party:

Well... gulp... lemme know...

Yes, I'm scared to death! But somebody's got to do it! My whole job experience and the resources are right there staring me in the face, so I just can't bear to be "Gen X apathetic" about this one this time.

Yep... I dood it :)

3. Best of luck, sounds wonderful;
but he Karma of a cast like that of mid 70's SNL, comes once in a lifetime. George Bush's America is one of hate and fear, and pop culture is greatly lacking in insperation....I wish you the best!

4. Thanks! I will need it!

Who knows, though... I might just scratch up the right cast! Poverty breeds creativity...
