Republicans look relieved and comfortable as they vow to earn their way... |
|
...back to power.
Watching the new Republican minority introduce themselves yesterday, they appeared more natural and more relieved than they have been in years. The opposition Party suits them so much better than being the Party in power. They are not cut out for governing. I hope the American people never make that mistake again.
But, there they were, admitting all their mistakes and promising to "earn" their way back to power in two years. Just how do they plan on "earning" their way back? They're going to return to their principles, they said. Uh-huh...

The principles of Abraham Lincoln? Teddy Roosevelt? Barry Goldwater? Ronald Reagan? Or just more pandering to hypocritical Evangelicals and Big Business?
A friend of mine, staunch Reagan Republican voted Democratic two weeks ago. He told me he was for small business and that's why he was a Republican. But today's Republicans seem to be all about big Business.

2. They didn't learn a thing, or they wouldn't have selected |

the same old Delay and Hastert toadies they did. They are seeking avenues to keep their big money machine rolling along and will continue to suck up to the social conservatives while doing so. They have forgotten how to be moderate.

3. Democrats have an opportunity to expose all the rhetoric for what it is |

,a ploy to once again ostracize liberal democrats as elitists who have no interest in the common citizen.

6. They won't allow us to stay in the "center"... |

Once they get aggressive again, which will be the day we take power, they'll push and pull on us until we're forced to push back, putting an end to any civility we may have imagined.

7. principals, not principles! |
|
they're going to return to their principals. they are merely agents of their wealthy sponsors, so they are going to go back to their bosses for further instructions, no doubt on how to corrupt the new power structure as fast as possible.
