1. I didn't hear anything about it when I was a kid, either |
|
probably because I was a nerd all through high school and by the time I got out, the drug culture was getting going. We had much better highs than blacking out from near asphyxiation.
This is what the drug war is doing to kids! End it now!

3. The only people I know who got spaced out and lazy on pot |

are the ones who started out stupid.
I've taken care of heavy stoners since then, and the only difference is the time lag between when they're spoken to and when they form a response.
Oh, and there is NO withdrawal syndrome.

it was definitely around in the 1960s
i don't know if any kids played it repeatedly, it was more something tried once or twice, does it even need to be done more than once?

5. I don't recall anyone playing it either |
|
After school in my day we'd go play at each other's houses or stay after school for something like Brownies or Campfire Girls or Girl Scouts. Most of the time we went home to my stay-at-home dad while mom was at work so we could do homework or chores (setting the table, washing dishes, cleaning our rooms, etc.). We were allowed to be children.
Nowadays, a lot of kids we work with in after school programs seem to have a lot of different pressures than we did. Some of the kids I've worked with have calendars to help schedule their various tutoring lessons to help them when they get to high school. I'm talking about kids who are in elementary school.

Early '80's. one kid got the whole swim team doing it (for a few months until we got bored and moved on to something slightly less stupid). add it to the list of reasons I should've probably been dead by age 16.

holding your breath. Caused a quick pass out when the teacher was facing the board and then scare the shit out of them when they heard something hit the floor and turn around and see a kid there shaking a bit. I'm sure it had some danger to it, but it was funny!
