1. not me...
he's just not experienced enough.

at this point, i could probably support a Gore/Clark ticket...but honestly- it's WAY too early to make that decision. by this point in 1990- how many people outside arkansas had even heard of "bill clinton" ?

however, i don't see ANY possible scenario wherein i could/would support a ticket with either john edwards or hillary clinton in either spot.

3. agreed. And what of Webb?
do you read his editorial article? Talk about kick ass. Democrat Party style!

This guy served his country repeatedly and honestly. He ran the military efficiently and professionally. He came out of nowhere to beat Senator Macaca by simply being himself. The more I heard him speak, the more I like him. He would be a fine VP.

4. Webb Would Be Fine Too But He Doesn't Have The Vaunted "Experience" Either...
Lack of experience and ability are not mutually exclusive..

6. What Did Barak Do To Be Consigned To Oblivion...
He opposed the war from its inception...

He voted against right wing judges...

He had to endure being bi-racial in a society that claims it color blind but really isn't...

He was smart enough to become president of the Harvard Law Review...

7. I think Obama needs more experience before running for president
which he would easily get by spending four to eight years looking over President Clark's shoulder!

8. That Would Be Fine. If You See I Said The General Was My Second Choice...
I have a gut feeling that neither Wes Clark, Al Gore or Barak will run...

I also think HRC may not run either. I don't see how she wins...

Should be interesting...

I think this is the first "open" election since 1952 with no incumbent president or vice president running...

16. In all seriousness, it's tought to make an argument that Obama lacks experience
while supporting Clark for president who has never ever been elected to any public office. ... And i'm a big fan of Clark.

The truth is that Obama has a decades worth of experience in the IL Legislature and US Congress not to mention a sundry of ace qualities that make him a premium candidate for president.

9.  I diagree with your first choice.Obama is not presidential material yet.
Edited on Sat Nov-18-06 01:20 PM by saracat
He has NO experience with governing at all and very little experience in the Senate. He has NO military experience and Zero dealings with the military. He says very little concrete when he speaks. He is just a pleasnat orator who is the media darling of the moment. He is a true American success story, he is good looking and charming but I don't think that is enough to be president. I like Obama right where he is for a couple of years. He is young. He can wait.

12. All You Need To Do To Be Pres Is Be Smart, Have A Good Moral Compass, And Surround Yourself With
Bright People...

Look at all the military and governmental experience John Kerry had and he couldn't see the Iraq War was going to be the "greatest strategic blunder in the history of the republic" Barak Obama had the forseight to see it at the beginning. On the greatest issue of our time he was right from the start.

24. That is the description Bush would give of himself! Not that I would agree.
That is just great if being against the war is your only criteria. I happen to think that the presidency covers a far greater scope that someone expressing an opinion on one issue that one agrees with. Many People on DU expressed that same opinion, myself included ,and I wouldn't want them to be president either!

28. It's Not Only His Position On The War...
It's his position on right wing judges...

It's his charismsa...

It's the fact that it would be a redemptive moment for America to elect an African American president...

It's the fact that African Americans deserve something tangible for their (near) unanimous support of the Democratic party...

25. It is not the size of the state that counts but the experience of "governing'.That Clinton was the
governor of a "small" state in no way enhances the fact that Obama has no experience "governing " at all.

and he flat out can't win . . .

besides, we need a strong environmentalist in the White House . . . someone like Al Gore . . . I'd support a Gore/Obama ticket, though I'd prefer Gore/Clark, Gore/Feingold, or Gore/almost anyone . . .

If you think Obama or any of those you have named is above media smearing or think the media will go easy anyone BUT Kerry then you are in for a rude awakening.
