Jim Leach for UN Ambassador
Edited on Sat Nov-18-06 05:21 PM by Idioteque
Reps. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) and James Walsh (R-NY) have been circulating a letter to encourage other members to urge Bush to nominate Jim Leach as ambassador to the UN after Bolton's term is up.

Jim Leach is a moderate Republican Congressman from Iowa who was defeated for reelection this year. Mr. Leach has been a strong opponent of the neoconservative agenda and supporter of international institutions like the UN and ICC.

Call your Congresscritter and ask for him to sign the letter. Jim Leach is the right guy to clean up John Bolton's mess.

1. I got my money on Tricky Dick Santorum
Seeing as he will be unemployed come January, the same day Bolton gets laid off the be exact.

And the "collegial" spirit in which the Senate operates between members and former members would probably assure his confirmation.

3. From the description, he doesn't seem to meet Bush's requirements for such a post
'Mr. Leach has been a strong opponent of the neoconservative agenda and supporter international institutions like the UN and ICC.'

Then he definitely won't get the job!

I understand that Rummy is unemployed at the moment; do you think this might be an opening for him?
