Anybody here seen "Bobby"
Edited on Sat Nov-18-06 07:05 PM by Artiechoke
I know it opened in LA and NY and the reviews have been so-so, but I trust the opinions of DU'ers over msm critics.
The Kennedy family has endorsed it so it must be good, at least as far as getting RFK's message out to a new generation is concerned.

2. It's not really said, but RFK's assassination was really the first Islamic terrorist
attack on America.

3. that is possible
if the official story is true. I do know that he wasn't shot by Sirhan as he died of a bullet wound fired from behind. Sirhan was in front of him. Still, Sirhan was involved I suppose on some level. Who knows what really happened and your point is a good one.

4. My BIL Always Says, This Assasination Made * Possible
It really did change the course of the US and the world -- probably would have been no Nixon, and of course Rove and Cheney (the real co-presidents) came from the Nixonian age....

10. I'm not entirely sure.
I think he would have won re-election in 1972, though I'm not sure who the GOP candidate would have been. I think Reagan would have won fairly easily in 1976, after "Kennedy Fatigue" had set in. Some of the neocons would have come to power with him.

13. Reagan also wanted the nomination in 1968
Even though he had only been California Governor for two years. I wish the Republicans had noninated him for a Bobby vs. Gipper election. RFK would have kicked hiss ass from coast to coast.

5. Most Americans seem to accept the official version
even though as you mentioned there were more shots fired than Sirhan's gun held. Oh well, they accept the lone gunman story.

Why don't more people care about exposing the truth behind those three assasinations JFK, MLK, RFK?

12. I don't see how that is factually possible!?
Edited on Sat Nov-18-06 08:36 PM by wuushew

Sirhan was born to Palestinian parents in Jerusalem and was raised a Maronite Christian. However, in his adult years he frequently changed his religious thoughts, to Baptist, Seventh-day Adventist, and Rosicrucianism.

Seems to me motivation would be Palestian nationalism not religion

8. the song 'Abraham, Martin and John' was playing on local
old classic radio thursday afternoon- i stopped truck to listen to entire thing; feeling the old rage at the killers of our countries. At the end of the song, when the singer riffs on Bobby's name (c'mear Bobby' etc) the DJ began joking about it while introducing a goofy song ('my ding a ling'(?)) he joked about ' hey Bobby' as if he didn't know the song was a lament at the assasinations of our leaders! i emailed the station asap got home, and received an apology: the afternoon DJ guy hadn't been born when Robert Kennedy and MLK and JFK (or Abe Lincoln, for that matter) were murdered, and had no idea about the gravity of the song!
this is sorta off topic, but c'mon! - how can anyone not know that a famous song like A,M&J wasn't about our heroes Abe Lincoln, Martin King and John Kennedy?

9. kudos to you for emailing the bastard
I agree, there is no way a DJ of all people would not know what the classic song is about, unless he was a moron.
I believe that the director of the movie said that Bobby's death was also the death of decency in America.

14. I couldn't stand to see it
just seeing the promos for it and hearing Bobby's quotes brings tears to my eyes. How different things would be if he hadn't been murdered. :-(
