3. For starters, ... start making everyone aware of the situation....
and keep them aware.

4. Be careful
not to give money to organizations that deal with the governments of any African nation. The people will see very little or none of it.

There was an outstanding program that bought sewing machines for women and taught them to sew. It may sound hokey to you but it did work. So many women of the Congo have been raped and then thrown out with their children, they have learned to sew and make a profit. The Disciples of Christ denomination handled the disbursement. Most denominations have funds earmarked for specific African countries.

I couldn't read the article. I have heard women from The Congo and it's enough to make you physically ill and emotionally drained. I keep writing to my Senators and Representatives but so far it doesn't do much good especially with the administration we are saddled with.

If anyone is not comfortable contacting a church/denomination be careful and do research. A lot of people have lined their pockets with money that was designated to go to the people.

7. One is
called Doctors Without Borders. They risk their lives to help and foot the costs with donations.

6. Don't buy diamonds. The children of women are being used as slaves
in diamond mines. The whole "certification" process that diamond marketers dreamed us is deeply flawed.
