Tell me again....why is Bush in Vietnam?
Is he trying to work out some type of trade deal? Or is he just reminiscing about all his war adventures back when he was there fighting for our country? Or is he just trying to get his poll numbers up a little since nothing helps an American President like going on a foreign trip? When is he due to arrive back in the paradise called the Capitol?

11. He WAS going there to celebrate his (now defeated) bill
On the 14th of Nov. his trade bill w/ Vietnam was voted down. Now he's there just to evade the American Press

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,229158,00.html

WASHINGTON — Legislation to normalize trade relations with Vietnam was defeated Monday in the House of Representatives, four days before President George W. Bush is to make his first visit to the only country ever to defeat the United States in a major war.

The measure failed to win the necessary two-thirds majority it needed under a procedure House Republicans adopted to rush it through with limited debate. It received 228 votes in support — 32 short of what was needed. There were 161 votes against it.

The Bush administration was hoping to gain approval of the measure before Bush meets later this week with Vietnamese leaders in Hanoi.

13. Glad you asked ...
I've been puzzled. I caught a clip of him stinding in a nice little park, talking about how we gotta stick it out in Iraq so the same thing doesn't happen again. And I says to myself, "what in the world was the Viet Nam war about, anyhow?"

I mean the US left, and everything seems to be OK anyway.

Could it be that PRIDE kept the US in Vietnam, just as it keeps us in Iraq?

21. He's there for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum
Edited on Sat Nov-18-06 11:08 PM by Boo Boo
He was hoping to go there with Congress having passed a bill normalizing trade relations with Vietnam, but it was voted down. Makes old Bushie look pretty weak. He gets handed a resounding defeat by the American People, and then in spite of the embarrassment it would cause the President the Republican Congress handed him another defeat on trade.

So Bush showed up for an economic summit in Vietnam immediately after Congress rejected normalized trade with Vietnam. Pretty sure that blew their whole PR strategy.

Say hello to viet cong,
they are laughing at that man,
bush help us to see it wrong,
hey the liar's got a band.

fifty five thousand smoked the bong,
away the cryer holds my hand,
bee 52's air wrong on viet kong,
agent orange ain't it grand.

Liberated from their fixated oppressors,
laughing at dummy's stuff suit stand,
titillated at the fall of their lessers,
kaptal's folly washed away in sand,
bushian petromen's dimwitted judgement,
alien dressers ill fitted fer gov'ment
