watch English Aljazeera TV online
Most US cable companies are refusing to carry the English Aljazeera channel.
Only a couple of obscure satellite services offer it.

We get fed fake faux news all the time, but I guess it is not okay to hear the
hear the other viewpoint.

Watch it online, free or subscribed - http://english.aljazeera.net/

10. Thanks, bookmarked for later...
...here's another option, that's a little more complicated, and you probably need a good Broadband connection to use:

<http://www.tvunetworks.com/>

Most of the channels are from China, I think, but they do have a German Channel that has some news shows in English and a few other too.

I've used TVU since July and have never had any trouble with Spyware or Viruses or anything like that.

17. link on "Watch Now" link at top left on the site, then choose free or paid
First visit - http://english.aljazeera.net/

when the site opens, click on "Watch Now" underneath their logo and
ALJAZEERA.NET, a new page opens.

You can stream the 56k free version or subscription based high-b/w
version.

I can watch a 50 kbps live stream, video is kinda grainy, audio is
clear.

I stream BBC Worldservice round the clock thru this :

would you want the bullshit propaganda from Aljazeera? I guess watching live beheading videos might be your thing, but I think I'll pass. Have fun.

25. I didn't say Aljazeera is the arabic version of fox news ...
I meant that even slanted stuff is ok for consumption, as long as the slant is our own.

I feel the core Aljazeera viewership has a different - regional, religious & cultural
point of view.

Having some idea of what they see in news helps me understand their viewpoint better,
closing my mind to their reality does not make me better prepared...IMHO.

As some dudes and dudettes said :

"free speech means free speech for everyone, not just the ..."

"freedom and democracy means freedom and democracy for everyone, not just those ..."

24. you do have a point there ...
I am guessing warrantless domestic wiretaps and IP address activity
tracking is out of fashion since the dems have the house.

just as you have to think about BIG BROTHER watching you, Big Brotha
has to worry about impeachment proceedings due to unauthorized leaks
... imho.

22. I think BBC World does the job just fine
I personally don't like the slant of al Jazeera.

But BBC is pretty straight-forward with their news. I'd go so far as to say that they are the best at covering international news. And their nightly newscasts are aired on many PBS stations. In addition, their radio service is aired overnight on many NPR affiliates.
