Who's watching Comic Relief 2006? Proceeds go to Katrina
Edited on Sun Nov-19-06 03:20 AM by texpatriot2004
victims. They have lots of good comedians, lots. I wonder how much money they will raise? They have raised tons of money in the past for other causes. So far I have seen a couple of corporate donors who have given 2 $50,000 checks and Ford is auctioning some car signed by all the comedians on Ebay. Plus, I think it was Quiznos gave like $100,000.

Oops! I was wrong Quiznos gave $200,000 - WOW! Thanks to the fellow DUer who corrected me on this.

The money will also help to foster pets who were victims of Katrina.

Next year they will be doing Comic Relief Wild 2007 to benefit species that are endangered. I think that's what they said.

1. I watched about two hours, and was a little disappointed
The cause is awesome, don't get me wrong.

But I was hoping for more than dick jokes from Robin Williams, and incontinence from Whoopi.

4. If
done right dick jokes can be very entertaining, especially when it's the one in the big white house they're talking about.

6. Suck a bag of dicks?
That was hysterical and it was Louis CK who got the whole dick joke thing going. I thought it was one of the best I've seen and I was glad to see comdians not censor themselves, the way it was before the puritans took over. I thought they did a great job with New Orleans too, showing how having trailers is not the same thing as rebuilding and that these people are rebuilding lives with a generational history, not just a city to take a vacation to.

9. I guess I missed that part
It was either after the two hour mark, or during a timeout when I was cooking.

I was referring to Robin Williams. I like Robin, generally. But after 30 years, his circumcision "jokes" are getting a wee bit stale. ;)

12. I missed the first half hour
Maybe it got off to a bad start. And I learned to take Robin Williams for exactly who he is a very long time ago. 80% stereotypical schtick and 20% pure genius. I just wait for the genius.

2. Quizno's gave TWO hundred thousand!
Which kinda makes big ol' Ford's donation look measly. I'll be patronizing Quizno's more often now--that was way cool.

5. I dozed off early on.. I wish it had just been the three of them
doing a bit more political...The sex jokes don't do a lot for me.. It seemed like they were all trying too hard to be funny, with the opposite result.

I hope they made money though, it's sorely needed..

7. Lots and lots of political jokes
Lewis Black, Roseanne, just about everybody did political jokes. It was really good.

14. not being cynical . . . I just didn't find it funny . . .
but then again I don't find most standup comics funny . . . particularly those who can't get a laugh without using profanity in every other sentence . . .
