Remember 4-5 months ago when White House called all the Repubs... |
|
together and they made the decision that they would all hang together and support the war. It was then they created the "cut and run" meme for the Democrats. Bush and Rove advised the Republican caucus that they should run in support of "staying the course". Over the last 4-5 months of the campaign, this turned out to be a disastrous decision for the Republican Party. Yet, they all stood together with their President. And they all went down.
And it was this meeting that is leaving such a bad taste in the mouth of many Republicans, especially those that were defeated for re-election. Rove told them this was the "winning" strategy. Now they see that Rove was wrong. And they are angry at Rove and Bush....very angry.

crafting that vote against the Kerry plan to withdraw making it a test of patriotism, of whether we really want to win a 'war on terror, terror, terror'. The people didn't fall for it this time. They have no right to blame their President now. They lost not anyone else.

as evidenced by his inability to change strategy once it became apparent that nationalizing the election around Iraq/Terra was not working.
Guess flying 'Staying The Course' in the face of reality is a common trait Reich trait.
