Coal to liquid fuel plant proposal in my little town |
|
Apparently its real close to becoming a reality here in my little town of 5000. Its a really depressed area that seems to draw these wonderful industries. Does anyone have any info on this type of technology?

2. You are still grinding mountains down to holes in order to get the coal |

Plus the net energy that you gain, taking into account the amount of energy needed to mine the coal, ship it and convert it, is minimal. Plus there is all the waste, runoff and atmospheric pollution to take into account. Not to mention that such a solution will fullfil our energy needs, nowhere close.
Better solution is algae based biodiesel. Clean, a boost to ag economy, actually helps the enviroment, renewable, and the only waste products are glycerin, which can be used in soap, and water. Plus we can easily convert our transportation needs over to burning biodiesel, and we can produce enough to fulfill our energy needs forever:shrug:
