Poll question: Obligatory Jon Stewart post of the night: is Jon, or is he not...
A Generation X'er?

Jon Stewart was born in November of 1962. Stephen Colbert, born in 1964, is definitely one. Jon says he doesn't even know what Generation X means, and doesn't think that he is one of us. What do you think?

(And no jokes saying he couldn't be because he's not apathetic enough. Hey now.)

1. No, GenX is the next generation down
Jon is one of the last of the baby boomers (we're the same age, so I know). GenX are the ones about 15 years younger.

5. Hey, I thought GenXers began in 1965--the baby boom goes to 64
Just trying to confuse the issue even more.

6. According to Wiki, if you were born in 1963
(as I was) you are both a Baby Boomer AND a Gen-Xer. Actually, I think if you can't remember JFK's assassination, you shouldn't be considered a Baby Boomer. Then again, I don't make up these things.

13. I agree. I'm a boomer, born in 1947.
Someone born in 1962 is a different generation. (especially here in the South!)

4. lol - this whole generational classification is funny
I can never figure out if it's useful or if the generational attributes describe a subset of more worldly trend setters or ?

7. it is useful, but only in a broad sense
It doesn't make sense to treat years as hard cutoffs. Of course, not everyone born in a generation shares all the same attributes and there is going to plenty of overlap.

But, it is the case that societal trends, economic factors, technology available during a person's formative years can influence -- in general-- likes, dislikes, etc.
