WITHDRAW FROM IRAQ NOW! There Is Nothing To Win In Iraq
Edited on Mon Nov-20-06 08:29 AM by berni_mccoy
The reason why our government can't decide what to do is because they have absolutely no options in Iraq that lead to a good conclusion. Thanks to the Bush Administration and the Republican Congress, our government is faced with a decision that will leave them damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Ultimately there are three choices.

1. Complete withdraw from Iraq
If we choose this route, then Iraq will destabilize further into complete chaos. It is likely that Iraq will split into three countries with the Kurds in the north, the Shia in the south and the Sunni in the West. Hundreds of thousands more will die. In fact, this is already starting to happen.

2. Stay the Course (even adding more troops)
This has the same exact result as option 1, but this time our guys are caught in the violence. Thousands more troops will die if we try to keep or increase our forces in Iraq and they will not be able to stop the violence.

3. Redeploy (Murtha's Plan)
Same result. It's too late for this plan. This plan had a chance to work when Murtha brought it up, but now it's certainly too late. In fact, since Murtha introduced his plan a year ago, OVER 800 Coalition Troops HAVE DIED, 755 of them U.S. Soldiers. Because of Bush's obstinacy and the Republican Congress's failure to provide a check and balance to Bush's Insanity, we've lost the opportunity to implement a plan for peace.

The only option left, given that the results are the same, is to Completely Withdraw. Some might say we have an obligation to the Iraqi people. We do. But we can't stop them from killing each other. The best route, given the end result, is to use diplomacy to bring about the inevitable: Iraq will be a divided set of countries, with or without the U.S. The only thing the U.S. can offer at this point is the opportunity to save some lives by working on a peaceful plan to divide Iraq and so that we don't lose thousands of more U.S. Soldiers in the process.

1. Do you think Bush & Co care about how many more people die?
That's not what this is about.

It's all about holding on to their Precious. Their Precious Oil.

3. Talk about thinking "inside the box"
I would suspect there are a multitude of options that have yet to be introduced. One must remember there is always an alternative. It may not be to one's liking but there is always an alternative Always to every situation. It just takes getting some intelligent heads together and not just from some western country. How about we get the Arab League involved?? How about we admit we might not have all the answers???

5. I'm open to alternatives... Propose away
Getting the Arab nations involved the way *we want them* to be is much easier said than done. They most likely ARE involved at this point. Shia's working with Iran, Sunni's with Syria. Turkey has its eye on the Kurds too.

If you've got a better idea, I suggest you start talking about it right away.

As for options for the U.S., I think we have a very limited choice, and it explains our government's hesitation to act and the recent Military General's recent ridiculous performance in front of Congress.

All options look terrible. We must withdraw and work with the factions diplomatically to help them determine their outcome with minimal bloodshed.

4. There is a 4th choice

The Shia in the South could decide to join with Iran making a greater Iran or Persia and what was the Capital of Old Persia: Babylon?
The Sunnis in the west could decide to join in a greater Syria and the Kurds could decide to set up their own Kurdistan to the disdain of Turkey which would have much to lose if this happened.
What have you done Mr Bush and Mr Blair.

6. It is likely that these other governments are already involved
and not in ways that the U.S. would like them to be.

7. They will drag it out as long as possible
Everyday we are there Halliburton makes more money. They do not care if we lose, they are just getting as much as they can, and they are still pushing for Iran which is why we need to stop them now!

Bush and Cheney must be impeached and then we can get our troops home
Check out this youtube video...the song is really catchy!
