Gems from the past : what changed my mind on Gore : MLK day Speech
Edited on Mon Nov-20-06 09:56 AM by BelgianMadCow
at Constitution Hall, here are the highlights (6 minutes' worth):

http://video.google.nl/videoplay?docid=-3313623747767874725&q=Al+Gore+speech

"Perhaps a new spirit is among us"

As VP, I never thought much of him (I was also much less politically aware).
In 2000 he was cheated out of the presidency, but he did not look appealing to me to be honest.
But a man can change, and become better with age like wine, and find his true voice.

I have believed Al speaks with it since I saw that speech. And that was even before An Inconvenient Truth.

He is a force, and whether he runs or not may The Force be with us.

PS should anyone have a link to the full speech, I have the complete file but dunno about the source...

1. Gore has had some bitter lessons since 2000 -- and he's learned from them.
He has a a right to be angry, but I think he's succeeded in turning that anger into a very healthy fire-in-the-belly. It's great to see him pair that new-found aggressiveness with his always-impressive intellect.

I've always given him a large measure of the blame for the 2000 debacle: for not fighting hard, for getting punk'd into distancing himself from Clinton, etc. But he's grown a lot since then, and I would definitely consider him for president in 2008.

Unless he chose Lieberman as a running mate again. It merely repulsed me in 2000. This time, I'd have no choice but to find out where he lives and throw rotten eggs at his house. LOL! How's that for productive use of anger? :D

BTW, good interview of Gore in GQ. Thanks to other DUers for pointing it out:
