Republican Follies: Teen's body found next to State Senator's gun
AP-Lawmaker's Gun

Coroner To Hold Inquest In Regola Gun Case

(AP) PITTSBURGH The Westmoreland County Coroner says he'll hold an inquest into the death of a 14-year-old boy found shot to death next to a state senator's gun.

Coroner Ken Bacha says the inquest, to be held sometime in January, will let him subpoena witnesses who can be jailed if they refuse to testify.

No charges have been filed in the July shooting death of 14-year-old Farrell, a next-door neighbor of state Senator Robert Regola, a Republican from Hempfield Township. The lawmaker's 16-year-old son, Robert IV, was a friend of Farrell's.

Authorities concluded Farrell died of a single gunshot wound to the head, but investigators haven't determined whether the boy shot himself on purpose or accidentally, or was shot by someone else.

Investigators have called the Regolas uncooperative because they have refused to be reinterviewed by police. Their attorneys did not return calls today.

4. Um...how come the cops haven't dragged him in as a suspect?
It was his gun, after all. Seems to me they wouldn't require the senator to "cooperate" -- they could just drag his ass in on charges, and force him to either talk or lawyer up. Boy, I just don't get it. If I tried this shit, I'd be UNDER the jail.
