Poll question: Poll these 3 Pentagon choices: "Go Big- Go Long- or Go Home" (?)
The Pentagon's closely guarded review of how to improve the situation in Iraq has detailed three basic options: send in more troops, shrink the force but stay longer, or pull out, according to senior defence officials.

Insiders have dubbed the options "Go Big", "Go Long" and "Go Home".

The group conducting the review is likely to recommend a combination of a small, short-term increase in US troops and a long-term commitment to stepped-up training and advising of Iraqi forces, the officials said.

Iraq is in a state of near civil war that has left the 140,000 US troops in the country with little immediate prospect of going home. Amid continued criticism of President George Bush's Iraq policy, talk is growing in Washington that he may approach regional adversaries Syria and Iran for assistance. This comes as Syria's Foreign Minister Walid al-Moualem made a ground-breaking visit to Iraq.

1. War is not a fucking football game.
And people still wonder why I despise our government and the hawks in the Pentagon.

Where's the "Go for peace" or "Get creative" options?

4. Sports Metaphors Have No Place In National Affairs
It is the language of shallow thinkers and Government deserves serious thought and language.

5. I voted Go Long
To me, that's the least of evils, but that's not saying much. If we just packed up and went home, Iraq would erupt into an extremely violent civil war (even more than it already has,) and probably millions would die. Iran and Syria would move in, throwing gasoline on the fire.

Go Long would get most of our troops home, keep the violence down as much as possible (I know, that isn't much,) and buy time for the correct solution to this mess - bring all the factions (even those EEEEEEVIL TERRARISTS we aren't supposed to bargain with) to the negotiating table and hammer out a political end to the fighting.

Unfortunately, I imagine Bush's most likely choice will be to Go Long, but not come to the bargaining table, which means we'll have a lingering mess that will continue to fester for years until somebody with political power pulls his head out of his ass and starts negotiating an end to the war.
