Why do Democrats go on Fox news?
I don't get it. First Clinton and now Kerry. They know they're distained, but they keep setting themselves up for this kind of treatment.

Why legitimize these assholes by going on their station? I think it would be great to see the Dems boycott Fox and them leave them twisting in the wind when they want a story.

1. Good question!
I would think that to ignore them would make them less legitimate

8. "This term was originally a Latin proverb based on a Bible story (I Samuel 17:35) about...
Edited on Mon Nov-20-06 03:16 PM by Fridays Child
...the shepherd David, who pursued a lion that had stolen a lamb, caught it by its beard, and killed it. By Shakespeare's time it was being used figuratively, as it is today. Sometimes the term is amplified to beard the lion in his den, which may combine the allusion with another Bible story, that of Daniel being shut in a lions' den for the night (Daniel 6:16-24)."

http://www.answers.com/topic/beard-the-lion

In a nutshell, it refers to the courageous act of pursuing one's adversary all the way into his/her safe haven.

7. Maybe they feel they have an obligation to get the facts out
no matter how hard it may be. I wish they wouldn't though. I remember back in the good old days of responsible journalism, no credible politicians nor established celebrities would do interviews with tabloid journalists because they were considered trash spreaders and propagandists, which is what Fox News is. The best thing to do is treat them like the pond scum that they are by not kayaking in their swamp.

I think things started to change when Carol Burnett sued the Enquirer for saying she was drunk in public and then they published those pictures of Gary Hart on the Monkey Business boat with a woman that wasn't his wife. They succeeded in ruining his career. Too bad they don't show equal intensity in publishing dirt about Arnold S.. Publishers like Ruppert Murdoch saw profit in trash journalism and it went mainstream.

It's time to send them back to their swamp, by our leaders refusing to collude with them. I agree with you.

9. I don't get it, either!
IMHO, ALL Dems should refuse invitations to appear on FAUX. They are not invited to speak or comment on government policy; they are there to be goaded into an argument, or ridiculed.

And when asked WHY they refuse to appear, the answer should be simple: "I'm always anxious to appear on REAL news or political shows, where discussion and debate about REAL issues is welcome. That leaves FOX-News out of the loop."

Many (if not most) FAUX viewers tune in hoping to see a Democrat belittled, or caught in a gaffe. If there were no Dem guests to be made to squirm, they wouldn't watch. FAUX's ratings would plummet - even more so than they already have.

15. I completely agree. It is a waste of time to go on a non-news channel
which is nothing more than a shill for the Republican Party. Just refuse to go on the network.

16. And completely MARGINALIZE that network ...
... every time you're asked why you won't accept an invitation to appear: "You've got to be kidding! I thought you were asking about REAL news programming," etc.

17. To reach out to the knuckle-draggers who watch it?
I'm not sure I agree with the idea, because most people who watch Faux news aren't going to be persuaded by 10 minutes of Kerry or Clinton after they're bombarded all day with right-wing lies.

But maybe it's their attempt to peel off right-wing voters?

18. I have wished that ALL dems would just BOYCOTT Fox and
ALL the screaming-head shows.

But alas, they are all addicted to the camera, and seem unable to control themselves..

Like moths drawn to the bug zapper, they keep showing up for their on air verbal whipping..

It would only take a month or so to change the whole agenda.

Just think of the ratings on those shows if NO DEM ever accepted the "invitation". Pretty soon people would get tired of seeing hosts sitting around interviewing each other and there's only so many times people will want to see the same crop of rightwingers.. Without a dem to interrupt and bash, they have NOTHING to say..

Of course the dems leadership would have to hold a press conference forst, and announce their plan to do NO MORE "soundbyte-screamfests"

and then they would have to announce a monthlong moratorium on the shows.. They could easily do it by saying they had better things to do than sit around arguing with uninformed crazy people.

It lasted about a week, then they reappeared.
