What jabs do you think Fox News' attempt at recreating the Daily Show will take at Republicans and Bush?

1. The big difference is that Democrats call out any one regardless of party
The Republicans can only rail on the other party.
Besides, they don't have any sense of humor or ability to understand satire

3. But Fox will be "fair and balanced" ...
When Hillary Clinton does something dumb, they can tell a Clinton joke
When Al Gore does something dumb, they can tell a tree hugger joke
When Ted Kennedy does something dumb, they can tell a Chappaquidick joke

When George Bush does something dumb, they can tell a Clinton joke
When Dick Cheney does something dumb, they can tell a tree hugger joke
When John McCain does something dumb, they can tell a Chappaquidick joke

See?

4. Also, it's the Johnny Carson rule.
If you tell political jokes you tell jokes equally about each side. That way you don't alienate half your audience.

5. I have the first Fox script right here
Lemme see, here are some of the big laugh lines:

"Boy, that Nancy Pelosi is such a moonbat she comes from San Francisco."

"Boy, those liberals. Are they traitors or WHAT?"

"Did you hear about the Democrat football player? All he could do was cut and run."

"And how about them homos? They want to get married now. Well, which one wears the pants?"

To be fair, though, Jon is pretty gentle with Dems and goes after Repukes with a meat cleaver. Which he should do, but all the people here saying he's right down the middle are only kidding themselves and looking pretty deluded. Jon is a lefty, and he really dislikes the Repukes and it shows. If he starts abusing Dems just to look "fair," I'll probably stop watching. The Repukes are getting what their nazi asses deserve.

Sigh. I knew I loved Jon.
You've summed up why.

Yes, once again I realize it: Jon Stewart simply rocks.

8. What comedy is supposed to do is to make fun of those with power...
so now, as we finally are ending the powerless years of our party, we will have to expect The Daily Show to make more Democrats targets. And we'd better be able to take the jokes.

9. I think it will work as well as Rush and Dr Laura did on TV
and last about as long as their respective shows. Anger, faux outrage and ridicule they can do. Humour... not so much.

11. I think so too.
For one thing, Republican humor is mean spirited and tends toward toilet humor and none of it is very funny.

Democratic humor is more cerebral. You have to get it.
