4. Yes, he missed the point. I expect the vast majority of Americans
would have missed the point. That's the problem with what Rangel did. It was expecting too much to expect most Americans would see this as an opportunity to get into a philosophical debate.

Instead, they'd simply see a "top Democrat" proposing a draft weeks after the Democrats won an election as the anti-Iraq war party.

5. If AAR listeners are missing the point...
then we need to bust our asses to let everyone know Rangel's true motive behind this. Wow, that is disheartening - I figured us DUers and AAR listeners would be smart enough, but I guess not...

Maybe he isn't a regular listener though.

8. I always knew what his point was, but I thought it would never
survive the spin cycle. And it didn't.

Madame Speaker did the right thing.

6. As will most of America, unfortunately.
I'm not listening to Randi right now but if this in regards as to why Rangel did what he did, unfortunately the point will be missed by many.

3. Randi has repeatedly put forth 2 questions for those who want
to go to war against Syria, Iran and/or North Korea:

1) Where are you going to get the troops??

2) Is there going to be a draft??

Basically, she's challenging Bushco to be upfront with the public and answer the above questions.

11. Which Is The Meme To Push. Iran Air Attack=Draft, Syria=Draft
Continuing Iraq occupation = Draft.

And it is an easy meme to push, because it is true.

With the continuing instability due to the GOP's criminal bungling of foreign policy, that began with the invasion of Iraq, Congress may be faced with a situation where they have no choice but to raise a conscript army.

9. There is already a draft
Edited on Mon Nov-20-06 04:02 PM by DearAbby
called stop loss. The Back Door Draft, where some of these troops have been there 3-4 tours. These people volunteered, true. Is it fair to make them fight the duration of the conflict, while people at home are not making any sacrifices for the effort?
