The most outrageous thing about Murdoch's company
was not so much paying Simpson to "write" a book and to appear on TV, but, according to ABC News, the manner in which that $3 mil plus was going to his kids, so that the Goldman family could not get what the jury decided of which they did not see a single penny.

It was not clear whether that money is already in his off-shore account.

1. Guess what? Pre-pub sales were not what you would have expected...
I have access to that kind of information.

No doubt there was a hefty advance placed SOMEWHERE--the question is did OJ see it?

I'm in the book biz and I'll say this--to have a title cancelled this close to pub date is very, very unusual, but note all the press it's gotten. Judith Regan loves the spotlight.

2. Thanks. This restores my belief in the American people
at least, the ones that read books.

My understanding is that it was ghost written, anyway.

4. Most ghost writers don't get paid nearly what they are worth...
Especially for the egos they must put up with. Just don't ask me how I know that...

5. Here's how the whole thing came about--very strange.
I get pre-pub notices from our book distributor about titles picked to be very hot (I do some book-buying in my job).

The October pre-pub releases included an untitled, CONTROVERSIAL fiction book by a well-known personality. Very large print run and respectable PR budget. Worthy of a stand alone pre-pub alert, as this one was.

We chose not to place an order for it; we normally want to see some reviews unless we are familiar with the author. For a "well-known personality" to publish a controversial FICTION title announced as "Untitles" made us quite suspicious.

No word until November 8 when the buzz hit the media and the title was announced. At that point, we figured we had no choice but to buy it. As I place the order, I notice that while the distributor had ordered several thousand, retailers and libraries were not ordering it in great quantities. Many bookstores simply refused to stock it, it turns out.

3. She may love the attention,

but she hasn't come off very well.

I'd definitely put her in the bat-shit crazy category.
