Porker of the Month
Citizens Against Government Waste today named Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) Porker of the Month for helping to secure a $2.3 billion federal loan for a railroad company.

Said railroad company paid Thune $220,000 in 2003 and 2004 to lobby for the loan.

Get this, the railroad company takes in $200 million a year in gross revenue . The new loan payment would be $236 million a year.

Last month's porker was David Price (Dem). He got the Feds to pay for GPS bus schedule signs in his district in North Carolina. The same company is being paid by Califorinians to do the same thing out there for one sixth the cost.

2. Pardon me, but that is not correct
it reads.."Said railroad company paid Thune $220,000 in 2003 and 2004 to lobby for the loan."

It should read .. said railroad company BRIBED Thune with $200,000 in 2003/4 to lobby for the loan

3. You know, it is a wonder

Each state has to pay a lobbyist to lobby DC for the state's interest.
Each city has to pay a lobbyist to lobby DC for the city's interest.
Each company has to pay a lobbyist to lobby DC for the company's interest.
Each industry has to pay a lobbyist to lobby DC for the industry's interest.
Each special interest has to pay a lobbyist to lobby DC for the special interest's interest.
and so on. . .

With all that money floating around, it is a wonder each and every politician isn't in jail right now.
