Taking a little break from DU as the Holiday season gears up; it's best if I focus on family and friends and book-writing out in the meat-o-sphere for awhile. As we head into the new year, I want to apologize to all those (except trolls, and Lieberman supporters) I've offended; sometimes, in my passion for arguing fervently about all things, I forget that in the rough-and-tumble universe of what passes for discourse online, people's feelings genuinely get hurt. I'll try to be less cranky and mean and snide and mercurial when I come back--call it a new year's resolution (and treat it with the appropriate skepticism).
Before I take my cranky, mean, snide, mercurial self off to SoCal to celebrate the rape and pillage of the New World by white, European fundamentalist lunatics, let me say this to everyone: You all did one hell of a job this year. If you wrote letters to the editor, volunteered your time, gave money to Dem candidates, tried to talk sense to your wingnut family/coworkers, sent outraged emails to CNN, worried about election fraud, went to see Al Gore's movie, supported the candidate(s) of your choice, and/or voted a straight Dem ticket in the election, you deserve a big-ass martini, a round of applause, and a pat on the back from the American people. You're all my heroes; we're not just bitching here, we're changing the world for the better.
So Happy Holidays and Merry freaking Christmas to you all. If you're traveling, travel safe. If you're staying home, I envy you. May the new year bring you peace, abundant love, good health, and happiness.
Much love,
