Michael Richards to appear on Letterman TONIGHT
Just saw on CNN. He's not an official guest, but he'll appear on satellite.

Don't miss it!

2. Poor Dan Patrick.
Heard him say today on ESPN Radio that he'd been called up at the last minute as a guest for tonight. Once before he got bumped because it was the night Farrah Fawcett went nuts and Dave decided to keep her on longer. Tonight he probably got bumped by this apology!

5. LOL You are probably right
I remember him speaking about that on the radio a week or
so ago about how he got bumped. He is probably gonna get
the same thing, Letterman needs to show some love to Dan
and Keith and the Big Show and have them both on as a main
guest.

3. Here's a preview from Late Show website...

I think he's sincerely sorry, and someone who's closeted racism obviously came to the fore...but I think he's a guy who's full of rage too. He seems like he was doing all he could to not explode again, when explaining himself.

professional comic....I just wonder if it were someone white would he have gotten so beligerent and nasty.....many comics get heckled but they don't respond the way he did....:puke:

9. Why does Letterman even give him a forum?
I guess it will get a lot of ratings from people who want to see the human train wreck that is Michael Richards... but frankly, there's virtually nothing this guy can say right now that is going to change my opinion of him.

7. What can he possibly say at this point?
Unless he was under the influence of serious psycotropic medications, he's out of excuses in my book. He should go find a nice rock to crawl under.

10. I don't know
But if I'm going to continue to bash the man (and I likely will), I'd like to be fair enough to give him the opportunity to explain.

I'm not looking for excuses, frankly there are none, but in the interest of fairness I want him to have a say.

8. I'm here to help!
Here's the link. It looks like Kramer really blew a gasket!
P.S. The quality is pretty crappy, but you'll get the drift.

12. There's a clip on CBS.com where he gives a forced apology

That had to be the fakest apology I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot... But Seinfeld producers have DVDs to sell...

On top of that, he was dredging up archaic expressions like "Afro Americans." Didn't he get the memo? It's African American now  although that probably doesn't matter because he still uses N***r :sarcasm:

13. One thing that's amazing here on DU is that
so many people are unwilling to accept his apology. Yet many of these posters (I recognize some of the names) are the same ones who are here on an almost regular basis begging for people to sign petitions to stop executions, invoking the plea, "Don't you have any forgiveness in you?"

I know these people claim to be genuinely opposed to the death penalty, but I'm not arguing that. I'm specifically talking about the people who plead a case based on "forgiveness," when they themselves are on here tonight completely unwilling to forgive someone who offers an apology for saying racist words.

The PC Police are out in force tonight. Sometimes I wonder if this isn't the most bizarre ass-backward collection of people on the Internet.

14. People like to pile on.
It's natural, and when someone does something as awful as Richards, probably warranted in some sense.

But yeah, it's kind of weird. Particularly when the whole "I'll never forgive him" is coming from people who profess to be Christians.

I'm perfectly willing to hear his apology and hope very much that he's willing to work to rid himself of the anger and hate that's in his heart. He's obviously got a lot of work to do.

15. They just played the clip on the local news right now.
Jerry Seinfeld is the guest tonight and they showed his apology. He said he was "beating myself up" over it or something similar and that he apologizes.
