Unhinged American "Family" Association demands Walmart boycott this weekend
Why yes. . .our self-appointed guardian of all that is moral (and profitable for his organization) Don Wildmon, is claiming he has already rallied some 400,000 "families" who have pledged not to shop at Wally World and Sammy's Club this weekend in protest of WalMart's participation in the *shudder* "gay agenda."

Now I know this is nothin' new to most of us - looney bin lovin' Wildmon has been boycotting everything from the sunshine to farms with cows that take a pee in the pasture for as long as I can remember. But I'm just a wonderin' if it might be just about time to think about. . .well, boycotting any company that does business with any AFA member. I mean, why not? It might be kind of fun - we could develop little stickers for retailers that say "Our store does not operate at the command of the American "Family" Association" and tell them that we only shop at places that we know are free from fringe group interference and who support everyone's religious freedom.

Anyway, here is the text of the unhinged mass mailing:

We have asked our supporters not to shop at Wal-Mart or Sam's Club this coming Friday or Saturday. Thus far nearly 400,000 families have agreed not to shop at Wal-Mart on those days. We suggest you shop with your local merchants.

Here is why we are asking you not to shop at Wal-Mart or Sam's Club this Friday or Saturday:

Wal-Mart gave $60,000 to homosexual group to support homosexual agenda in the workplace

Wal-Mart made a generous donation to the Northwest Arkansas Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Community Center

Wal-Mart sells pro-homosexual items from their website

Wal-Mart asks for, and receives, permission to join Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce

Wal-Mart invites homosexual ad agency to headquarters for 2-day seminar to indoctrinate employees.

Last March, Wal-Mart chose to promote "Brokeback Mountain" video over a top-selling family-oriented film. Wal-Mart began taking advance orders of the homosexual love movie, "Brokeback Mountain." A large display greeted customers when they walked through the front doors of the store. "Brokeback Mountain" was released the same day as best selling pro-family movie, "The Chronicles of Narnia" which Wal-Mart did not promote.

Now I'm no big fan of WalMart, but I'll say one thing - I'm less a fan of this censorship organization and their wailing wall mentality over every imagined offense. And you know, they are going to keep this kind of stuff up everywhere until someone start putting the pressure back on them. Frankly, I'm sick and tired of their braying about the boogey man - I think we've already seen from the Foley and Haggard affairs that the REAL boogers are the ones bleating the most. . .

11. Oh, something really subversive, probably
You know, things like having equal rights, not being discriminated against, those kind of things. Maybe their agenda is to simply be treated with decency and respect, and being able to have insurance benefits for their partners. The kind of things that these hateful people are incapable of understanding. It almost makes me feel like buying something from Walmart tomorrow.

RW code for "someone who gets Fauxed".

Or "Hannitized".

Mega-dildoes. :)

4. well now it makes sense...
"Wal-Mart invites homosexual ad agency to headquarters for 2-day seminar to indoctrinate employees."...
The AFA can't have any competition in the indoctrinating business. Maybe we should send them an email saying "Here's an even better reason not to shop at Wal-Mart, those $9.99 sweatpants you just bought were made by some poor 13 year old girl in Asia who probably gets raped by her factory foreman on a regular basis"...never mind, the AFA is all for free markets and hetero sex! :puke:

5. WalMart kissed the devil
and now is getting fucked (doors locked, lights out, missionary position -of course).
Fanatics demand ever more stringent obedience to dogma.
No real surprise, but nice.

Hey, that's always fun to watch!

The AFA are pseudo-Christian fruitloops. The family that own Wal-Mart are just as bad.

Edited on Tue Nov-21-06 01:18 AM by TygrBright
...on the Wallyworld website?

Could these idiots be any more clueless?

They have REALLY overstepped now. There's only one thing that can trump bigotry and religious fanaticism for large numbers of Americans, and that's the dreaded C4!!

CRUMMY CONSUMER CRAP CHEAP!

They'd stampede over a pile of dying fetal tissue to get made-in-chinese-sweatshop gewgaws with American Flags on 'em for a buck cheaper than at some other store.

Good luck, Rev. Nutjob.

cynically,
Bright

12. Some people have to shop at WalMart
Suppose you lived in an area where WalMart was the only store that carried goods and services you needed. You didn't have another grocery store within 30 miles. The only other one closed down before WalMart opened. And with gas the way it is people have to shop there. So are all these people who are fixated on gays gonna come drive you 30 miles to get groceries.

13. indeed
if I need basic sewing notions, I am forced to shop at the local MallWart. The closest fabric store is at least an hour's drive away. That is one of the few reasons I ever go there. Otherwise, I am usually able to find what I need elsewhere. Our rural county has the grand choice of shopping for new stuff at Kmart or WallMart. Not much of a choice.
So, would the AFA goons kindly drive me to the local Joanne's? I think not.

I mean like this one, some of these people will just shop there on monday anyways, By then they will probably end up paying more for the item that was on sale.

15. In that case, I will make a special trip to Wal-Mart this weekend
just to tell the managers why I am shopping there for that day. If I can find a dress that fits I'll go in drag. :D

But this weekend will mark a change.

With any luck there'll be sign wielding fundies.

but you can shop there on Sunday and thereafter? a 2 day boycott won't make a difference. I doubt if Walmart/Sam's would even notice

"Wal-Mart sells pro-homosexual items from their website"

Anyone have any examples of that? Inquiring minds want to know.

1200: Lunch

1300: Undermine the fabric of American society

1500: Seduce God-fearing, ultra-heterosexual men who would never, ever dream of that sort of thing if it wasn't for our evil psychic powers (AKA Operation Ted Haggard)
