Pot users in New York get marijuana delivered to their door
Who says customer service is on the decline!

Home delivery has been growing in popularity, thanks to a new style of dealing designed to put customers at ease and avoid messy turf wars.
By Tom Hays of the ASSOCIATED PRESS

NEW YORK — In a city where you can get just about anything delivered to your door — groceries, dry cleaning, Chinese food — pot smokers are increasingly ordering takeout marijuana from drug rings that operate with remarkable corporate-style attention to customer satisfaction.

An untold number of otherwise law-abiding professionals in New York are having their pot delivered to their homes instead of visiting drug dens or hanging out on street corners.

Among the legions of home delivery customers is Chris, a 37-year-old salesman in Manhattan. He dials a pager number and gets a return call from a cheery dispatcher who takes his order for potent strains of marijuana.

Within a couple of hours, a well-groomed delivery man — sometimes a moonlighting actor or chef — arrives at the doorstep of his Manhattan apartment carrying weed neatly packaged in small plastic containers.

"These are very nice, discreet people," said Chris, who spoke to The Associated Press on the condition that only his first name be used. "There's an unspoken trust. It's better than going to some street corner and getting ripped off or killed."

The phenomenon isn't new. It has long been the case across the country that those with enough money and the right connections could get cocaine or other drugs discreetly delivered to their homes and places of business.

9. The cost of service in New York is very expensive.
Higher wages, insurance, gas, taxes. Plus a guy (or gal) DESERVES to be paid to assume the risks the customer declines.

For a small, timely delivery? that doesn't seem out of line.

Of course, legalization changes the equation somewhat.

Could this phenomenon be used in defense as evidence of widespread social acceptance?
IE: outdated and anachronistic laws.

If folks will swallow $30/g, think of the tax revenue that could be generated.

3. nobody who has EVER been a regular weed smoker never has to hang out
on street corners -- 'cept amateurs, tweekers, and dope fiends with nowhere else to go.

not that i would know anything about any of those scenarios.

nope. nothing.

7. wow
60 dollars for 2g? christ that is steep. i get it delivered to my house here in britain and i pay 20 pounds (38 dollars) for an eigth of an ounce (3.5g) (but in reality its more like 3g)

its an interesting article in that it states that, shoch horror, people can actually smoke pot and hold down a job! liked the part where they mention the hydroponic setup, trying to make it sound a little scarier (they can grow it without soil!!!)

not sure what they mean about avoiding turf wars? do they mean the customer doesnt have to get in the middle of it or are turf wars now much reduced? not sure if that is the case over here, i know of at least 3 different groups that deliver to the door and they certainly are just as prepared to protect their market as any other dealers are.
