Annan: US is trapped in Iraq, it cannot stay and it cannot leave
-- UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan said Tuesday the US is trapped in a way in Iraq, in the sense that it cannot stay and it cannot leave, there are those who maintain that its presence is a problem and there are those who say if the US leaves precipitously the situation would get worse. In his last news conference Tuesday in Geneva before leaving office at the end of December, Annan added that those who believe that the US should stay think that the US should stabilize and calm the situation before leaving.

"I think the US will have to think through this very very carefully, but the timing of its departure would have to be optimal in the sense that they should leave without further deteriorating the situation," he stressed.

1. Actually, if the U.S. removes Bush/Cheney from office, leaving Iraq
...will be greatly simplified. As long as Bush and Cheney remain in power, we remain in Iraq.

2. Leaving is easy.
You just tell all the troops to get in their vehicles and go to Kuwait. Just provide for air cover and its a done deal.
