Talon DoD spying on liberal war protesters makes a lot of sense...
after all al-Qaeda, Eric Rudolph, and Tim McVeigh are/were extremely liberal.

I recall Osama Bin Laden coming out for gay marriage on a number of occasions.

As we all know, these terrorists all hate war and violence. They believe in equality for all and civil liberties.

They also believe in democracy.

I can see it.

1. Well the protesters might litter or double park or something.
Can't be too careful.

2. Why do they fear compassionate people? K&R
Why do they fear people who want honesty, honor and peace?

3. A lot probably has to do with the same people in charge that have been in charge for the last
50 years throughout the cold war. Some of those people really believe that they were fighting communism when they infiltrated peace groups, leftist groups and overthrowed liberal democratic governments in the Third World. Although I think the majority knew it was a just an excuse to help multinational corporate power.

And so for example my scientific funding was from DHS (I'm an ethical vegan and very interested in media reform, IMF SAPs and general US imperialism) and I was escorted out of work with no explanation and my scientific career effectively ruined.

4. Welcome to DU!
:hi:

And a good post too.

Deep Throat, W. Mark Felt, got in some hot water for being a part of these operations. They were genuinely afraid, and it is understandable, the Soviets could have ended our country in 30 minutes if they wanted to.

Of course if we look at the terrorists, the threat is far less. Even in the absolute worst case scenario they smuggle in a nuke and detonate in it a city.

They wouldn't be able to destroy America.

So I don't honestly think this recent infiltration can so easily excused.
