"GOP Leaving Spending Bills to Democrats" |
|
Is this what they call "BIPARTISANSHIP?" Just wondering. :eyes:
GOP Leaving Spending Bills to Democrats By ANDREW TAYLOR, Associated Press Writer
<snip> Some Republicans also look forward to using unfinished budget work to gum up an early Democratic agenda that includes raising the minimum wage, negotiating lower drug prices for Medicare beneficiaries, cutting interest rates on college loans and repealing some tax breaks for oil companies.
"Other stuff may get pushed off the table," said GOP lobbyist Hazen Marshall, a former longtime Capitol Hill aide. "It kills (Democrats') message."<snip>
<snip>
Bush is likely to be torn between the necessity of working with Democrats to finance his priorities _ including the war _ and a desire to take a stand against spending increases. Bush has never vetoed a spending bill in his six years in office, but that may change now that it will be Democrats writing them.
Democrats pledge not to overreach in their dealings with the president.
"We're not going to send him veto bait," said Rep. David Obey, D-Wis., who will be taking over as the chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. "We're not that stupid."<snip>

they came in ...
What this highlights is:
1) How important it is for Nancy Pelosi to crack the whip and get the house back to meeting like it should ... No more of this being in session for two and a half days for less than half the year stuff ... FAR too much has been left undone by these scubags ...
2) That they absolutely need to take the high road ... It is tough, when you are dealing with complete miscretans (sp), but the only way to break the cycle is to be above it ...
3) At the same time, they have to be smart ... The easily digestable agenda that Pelosi has set - SMART ... Get a few things on the table that are not divisive, that most americans are in favor of, and force the president to pass positive, progressive legislature or to look even worse by vetoing it ... Meanwhile, be sharp, like the Obey comment, and don't trip themselves up ...

3. The Republican agenda never changes. Kill the poor.... |
|
Destroy the middle class. It always surprizes me that they just don't proposed bringing slavery back and get it over with.

5. What Makes You Think They Haven't? |
|
What makes you think they haven't already brought back slavery?
Wage slaves,
Working poor,
Homeless,
Base wage rates that can not support and individual let alone a family.
But .....
Those who own the means of production are doing well. "Means of production"; what a wonderful phrase. A hundred and fifty years ago it could have been used to describe the Plantation.

9. Rethugs think Dems are as incompetent as they are |
|
The spending bills will not take that much time. And it will let us clean up the bills and add in what's really needed but blocked by rethugs.
And since we can chew gum and walk at the same time we'll be able do both (investigate and spend)
Rethugs are idiots.
