FOX offered Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman famalies millions in hush money to shut up about OJ special
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ap/nation/4351977.html

The Simpson saga took another twist Tuesday when his former sister-in-law, Denise Brown, accused News Corp. of trying to buy her family's silence for millions of dollars.

A News Corp. spokesman confirmed that the company had conversations with representatives of the Brown and Goldman families over the past week and said that they were offered all profits from the book and TV show, but he denied it was hush money.

"There were no strings attached," News Corp. spokesman Andrew Butcher said.

Denise Brown told NBC's "Today" show that her family's response was: "Absolutely not."

"They wanted to offer us millions of dollars. Millions of dollars for, like, 'Oh, I'm sorry' money. But they were still going to air the show," Brown said. "We just thought, `Oh my god.' What they're trying to do is trying to keep us quiet, trying to make this like hush money, trying to go around the civil verdict, giving us this money to keep our mouths shut."

1. Breathtaking. Is it madness, evil, or simply gall of a cosmic order?

3. Book search
Does anybody reading this know how a copy of this book might be obtained? I look for excerpts to appear on-line, too. If Paris Hiltons sex tape gets on line, surely this book does...

I saw that Post #1 glaring up there. Is your screen name satirical? I can stomach Arnold better than 99% of the GOP....

4. I saw Denise Brown's appearance on the Today show, she is quite
a lady. Looks exactly like her sister with dark hair. But I admire her stamina to standing up against anyone that disagrees with her.

She's every bit a lady, I think. It's such a sad situation.

If I lost a family member to something like this I would want to go out and kill him myself.

And only then...is when they reached an epiphany about this "ill-decided" ( or whatever BS term ) project.

Give me an eff'in break.

10. Sounds like spin.
I'll bet the Goldmans were in on it from the beginning, and are now spinning away from it.

14. But Stephanie said today that it was O'Reilly's strong sense of morality
that got the show cancelled. Not the refusal of the Browns & Goldmans to take a bribe :eyes:

19. You have it!
OJ is likely a murderer. And no one deserves to die. Murder is an atrocity. But these facts do not require one to paint the Browns as angels.

17. What Do You Expect?
Fox also gave us Fox News Channel. They hired O'Reilly & Hannity. So of course they would want to air OJ's disgusting TV show. Fox lives in the gutter.

18. Or so she said -
Honestly, I clicked on this thread out of surprise from the headline, thinking "I'm surprised they didn't take the money!"

Look, OJ is probably a murderer, no, almost certainly is one. But he got off. And ONE major reason he got off, the reason he (unfairly) won the publicity battle with enough of the public and the jury, was because that Brown family came of so badly - self-involved, hyper-materialistic and totally fake. All we really knew of poor dead Nicole was her picture, she definitely looked like an attractive woman, but she also definitely looked like Bad News. And then her sister, that Denise Brown, just came off so badly.

Does this mean that I'm saying that OJ deserved to go free? No! So please hold the flames. But that family. Ugh.

20. A 'family' of drama-queens ... engaged in economic necrophilia.
I'm not personally convinced OJ is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt - nor innocent beyond a reasonable doubt either, but that's not the test. The civil trial was, imho, a sham set in the context of rabid zealotry. There was no possibility of a fair trial on the second go-round, imho.
