Question for DU helicopter military aviation experts: Red lights? |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-22-06 12:24 AM by BeHereNow
I live in southern CA- for the last three hours I have watched several military helicopters fly over in various formations- Example: Two with white lights followed by a few completely darkened.
Later, several single military copters with red lights only. Head and tail. Just curious to know if anyone knows the reason for the red lights. I have not seen that before.
Anyone else in SoCal been watching the sky parade? We constantly have helicopter traffic over us here- trolling for car accidents and OJ Simpson type freeway chases- these are NOT news copters, they are most definitely military copters.

2. Thanks for the kick. The copters are sort of freaking me out. |
|
Probably just transport, but I have never seen the red lights only thing before.
Plus, my critters are acting weird and that always makes me wonder if they sense something I don't.

3. The are probably flying using NVDs |
|
Night Vision Devices. Standard training, the red light gives just enough light for the devices to illuminate the operational area.

5. THANKS! I was hoping to hear something along that line! |
|
I have to admit that anytime I see a herd of military copters over LA, I get somewhat nervous... BHN

4. SO...nobody here knows? |
|
I'm hoping to here that the red lights are standard operating procedure for the fog we have been having... Myr brother is a former army copter pilot- maybe he will check in on this thread from Africa? That is where he works some of the time.

6. Hi BHN - Ive been hearing them off and on all day. |
|
I'm in Studio City.
I couldn't see them but I could tell from the volume it was probably military. In fact I just posted about them. I hadn't seen your thread.
Just verifying what you're hearing.
Something seems to be going on.

8. Shows the importance of a gathering place, which the Neocons have |
|
effectively dismantled due to their connections to developers and probably citywide enforcement.
Look at the times during Vietnam versus now. That was their greatest strength. Having PLACES TO ASSEMBLE. The power abusers learned their lessons.....
Americans need a place to GATHER in every single city and SUBURB.
That is the most effective dismantler wealthy dividers have accomplished by eliminating our places to GATHER.
We must begin an initiative that creates a mandatory place for ALL COMMUNITIES to gather in times of crisis.
There is nothing more important.
