Bush Sr. Defends his son...
Oh boy! I almost feel sorry for Bush...um...Bush Sr.
While speaking at a conference in the Arab Emirates George Bush Sr. was stuck in a hostile room trying to defend his son from the angry audience. Ironically, this happened the same day people voted George Bush Sr to be more popular than George Bush Jr. So now the "popular Bush" is travelling the globe trying to bring respect and love to his son--the same son who basically gave the world the middle finger when he went into Iraq based on lies. "We do not respect your son," a woman in the audience told Bush. "We do not respect what he's doing all over the world." The Associated Press reported that "Bush appeared stunned as the audience of young business leaders whooped and whistled in approval" at the woman's comments, coming after the "retired president had just finished a folksy address on leadership by telling the audience how deeply hurt he feels when his son the president is criticized." According to the AP, Bush's voice "quivered" in response.
Yet, in doing some research today, I discovered articles from nations around the globe--and all with the words, "George Bush lied about Iraq..." (or similar type headlines from places like Africa, Bangladesh, India, Europe, Germany, UK, Al Jazerra, ect...) If only the American newspapers were brave enough to report on THAT! Now of course I'm saddened that George Bush Sr has to listen to critism of his son, but on the other hand, he should feel more saddened by the mess his son has made of this planet! His voice can quiver all he wants, but it's not going to change the fact that his son lied about war; his son is a war criminal and approved of torture; his son did more to start WWIII than any other President in our history; his son has taken away the respect and dignity of this people and this nation as well as taken away the respect and self-dignity from those who he illegally tortured.
From the place I'm sitting, I think George Bush Sr. should have given his son a little bit more TOUGH LOVE while he was younger. Instead, Bush Jr has made a life of failures and has never had to deal with the results. Bush Jr wanted to "show daddy..." because he was going to do everything differently from his dad--and that meant when Bush Sr. gathered a coalition for war, Bush Jr. wasn't going to listen to some group of people so he decided to go it alone. Bush Sr made plans to end the war, but Bush Jr made plans for ENDLESS war!
So much as I feel sorry for George Bush Sr, I'm going to have to say something that he should have said to Bush Jr many times, 'Tough luck. You can't have everything." Or maybe once made him play businessman with his OWN money-not others. Either way, Jr. doesn't seem to have left behind the adolescent identity-forming rebellion, and unfortunately its our whole COUNTRY thats the worse for it. Now THAT'LL put some whiney Good Charlotte songs in perspective! What a different world we might be seeing today, if only the Bush dynasty had read some parenting books!
