A question after seeing Ed Bradleys memorial service...
C-SPAN ran a broadcast of the memorial service early this morning and I found it about halfway through, but what I saw was eloquent and moving and inspiring. There was a huge crowd, full of famous and not famous people of all stripes. Anyway, in a perfect ending, a brass band playing "When the Saints Go Marching In" led the procession out of the church. As the camera panned around the crowd, who should it settle on but...Bill Clinton, talking to Aaron Neville, as other famous and not famous folk filed by and said hello.

The immediate question that popped into my mind was this: is there any scenario in which you, in your most vivid imagination, could imagine Little Lord Pissypants mingling in a crowd of what seemed to be thousands, just talking and laughing and mingling and paying respect? The second question that came to mind was: is there any journalist on the dark side that is/was as respected as Ed Bradley by so many people?

2. Not yet, but he's getting there.
All he has to do is keep talking.

10. well,
he and his beady little eyes and angry sneer would sure fit in. Although orange may not be his color. Maybe he could go to his repuke buddy's prison in Arizona and he could get something in a nice pink...

9. Freeper convention? Funeral of Falwell or Robertson?
Edited on Wed Nov-22-06 08:29 AM by hlthe2b
International Convention of the KKK? (all referring to scenarios where Bush* would attend and feel at ease)

As to the RW "journalist"--no such thing really exists, but I suppose the "grand poo bah" of conservatism William F. Buckley might draw a crowd... Rush Limbot would clearly draw his share of reverential "ditto heads." Whether that is "respect" or mere sycophany, I'll let others decide...

12. you are correct

"right wing journalist" is an oxymoron. I wrote that while barely awake. I'm still drinking my coffee, I'll do better later... :)

11. The tale of two Presidents
One, universally loved and at home among throngs of people, the other, universally hated and too fearful to be among anyone who doesn't adore him and hasn't been through a strip search.

A truly stunning study in contrasts.
