Poll question: Who would be the toughest Democratic nominee for the GOP to beat?
The reverse of the question on the other poll regarding who we think the toughest GOP candidate would be. Who do you think would give the GOP the hardest time? Try to be objective.

3. I think that would be a very strong ticket
Gore's experience and Obama's star power.

11. Obama who?
Personally, I want to vote for Molly Ivins.

She'd whip the executive branch into shape!

2. The hardest would have to be Gore and Kerry because RNC used up so many lies already
at a time when the GOP had credibility.

Then would be Clark - but I have no doubt anyone can get targetted and smeared by lies about them - it comes down to how willing the media is to promote the lies - will they really want to pretend Gore and Kerry lies from RNC are true....again?

5. Clark...
Edited on Wed Nov-22-06 09:47 AM by hughee99
He has no legislative record to attack, he's a military guy, and he was a repuke for much of his life. IMHO, I don't see too many democrats not voting if he were the nominee and he would actually be appealing to many repukes.

7. Gore would carry every state he did last time bare minimum
IF one counts Florida that is an automatic win. If Florida fails, Gore will make up the needed EV with Ohio.

With all the other Dem candidates their potential EVs are much more of an unknown.

8. Gore could grab people from both sides
Gore is the only one who has been removed from the political game for long enough that I think he could use that to his advantage when most of the country sees just about every politician as corrupt in some way.

12. Re-Elect President Al Gore.
Just watch: The moment he wins in 2008 the re-Pukes will repudiate the results of the 2000 election and claim he can't be legally re-elected in 2012.

16. Gore couldn't
Gore is a known quantity to all sides now. Most voters have already decided once on him. What could he possibly say that would cause them to change their minds? The best choice is a fresh face.

I say fresh face, but I picked Clark, too, for the military appeal.

BTW, he's on the Tonight Show next week.

And then there's the book coming out in the spring.

21. It's old news.
In order to have "the best chance" he would have to do or say something new and impressive that would change minds, especially of voters who didn't chose him before. His movie won't do that, no matter how many copies it sells.

Can you name one thing of note that Al Gore has done since 2000, other than the continuing environmental issue, off the top of your head?

23. You carry 4 Al Gore speeches around in your head?
Generation Investment Management is new, but it's not about policy and I doubt it would move any votes.

And they would never vote for Clinton, Gore or Clark

20. Gore isn't running
He has made it clear that he does not want to be in a political office. Clark has a lot of military experience, and he would do well as president. Since we are in a war right now we need that kind of leadership. I think some of our best presidents were generals (washington, eisenhower).

If not, then at least make Clark the Secretary of Defense. That kind of knowledge is priceless. I would say the same for John Edwards being the attorney general. That would be great.
