Follow up to First Daughter's Purse Swiped
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (CNN) -- First daughter Barbara Bush's purse was stolen while she was in Argentina with her twin sister, Jenna, a law enforcement source who was briefed on the incident said Tuesday.

The source told CNN that Barbara Bush, 24, was "not in the immediate proximity" of the bag when it was swiped.

Other reports said Bush's purse and cell phone were taken while she was dining in a Buenos Aires restaurant.

Want to bet that as soon as the theives figure out what they've got the cell phone numbers are up for auction on E-bay?

1. Okay she picked up a cute guy
and left his place so quickly the next morning she forgot her purse. Happens to lots of women.

Oh and someone needs to tell her she won't need a purse in Iraq :)

2. it's a tough area
I went to Rio and Buenos Aires earlier this year, and I was surpised just how uncomfortable I felt numerous times in Beunos Aires compared to Rio.

Rio is obviously known for their favelas and extreme poverty, but I felt perfectly comfortable walking around at night there. And it's not "well, they keep their poor people separated", because even walking around the favelas, I felt fine. They were poor, and lived in squalor, no question, but everyone was outside their houses, smiling, happy, playing games, etc.

When I was in Buenos Aires, my brother and I were walking down the street in the middle of the day, when these three kids (late teens) walked up to us and started tapping us asking for money very aggressively. As we continued to walk, they started to grab our pockets, and we started to walk faster, one of them actually spit on us.

3. This story gets more strange and suspicious...
How in the hell does her purse get swiped when she's got 24/7 Secret Service protection? Secondly, why is the Secret Service leaking this information at all, it seems to me that they wouldn't want this sort of thing known.

6. What are they doing over there any way?
There are so many other places for them to visit and they need to get HOMELAND SECURITY guidelines.

They should not be in countries that are not welcoming to their dad and that means they can't even be in the USA.

Recall that we are "at war" and here they are partying in South America.

Something doesn't fit in this story.

10. She left her purse on the chair..(that's the latest I heard)
Now why would she be away from the table?

dancing maybe?

I think she had a "date" with a cute SS guy, who "waved off" the other SS guys, and Barbara just got careless..

People steal purses all the time at restaurants. Women have a bad habit of setting their purse on the floor or hanging the strap from the chair..or with a clutch purse, it's easy to lose track of it..

8. CIA Black Bag Op? (Just kidding)
The story is very odd. Remember when Jenna's purse was stolen as she ran from some guy outside a bar last year?

Cell phone and purse...could reveal info. :tinfoilhat:
