US Could Bomb Iran Nuclear Sites in 2007: Analysts

President George W. Bush could choose military action over diplomacy and bomb Iran's nuclear facilities next year, political analysts in Washington agree.

"I think he is going to do it," John Pike, director of Globalsecurity.org, a military issues think tank, told AFP.

"They are going to bomb WMD facilities next summer," he added, referring to nuclear facilities Iran says are for peaceful uses and Washington insists are really intended to make nuclear bombs, or weapons of mass destruction (WMD).

"It would be a limited military action to destroy their WMD capabilities" added the analyst, believing a US military invasion of Iran is not on the table.

US journalist Seymour Hersh also said at the weekend that White House hawks led by Vice President Dick Cheney were intent on attacking Iran with or without the approval of the US Congress, both houses of which switch from Republican to Democratic control in January after the November 7 legislative elections.

9. Agree totally
The Constitution directly states that only Congress can declare war. In case of an attack or clear immediate threat, the President should have the right to order a military response, but Congress should be required to ratify it within a very short period of time, perhaps 48 hours, or the military response should cease. This is outrageous that the criminal cabal could be talking about doing this to the country after the ass-whipping they just took on November 7.

3. Of course this is all guess work, maybe better than a W.A.G. but
then again maybe not. Because such a thing doesn't take months to implement, I think I'll wait until next year to consider if the tensions might suggest this will happen.

4. Is the world going to stand by & let the US do this?
How much more of our stomping around the planet proclaiming "We're the greatest nation on earth. We're the deciders of who gets nuke technology" are they going to tolerate?

5. I posted on a dupe thread that when Clark was campaigning for the midterms
he was saying that there was a 50 to 70 percent chance that Bush would attack Iran. Obviously, that's not something he's pulling out of his ass; he's hearing that from inside the Pentagon.

7. It would be totally insane for them to do that.
They need Iran to dig them out of the hole they dug themselves into. That's no way to get the hand up out of the hole.
