The Obligatory Thanksgiving (political) Thread: (thankful for ---)

I kept waiting for someone to do this, and didn't see it, so here goes (if it's a bad idea, just ignore the whole thing.)

Can we post what we are POLITICALLY thankful for? Not necessarily thankful to Someone, or Something...but thankful in general? Can we keep it political instead of personal?

I am thankful for:

1. Skinner and DU and You Guys.....we fuss and fight, and agree, and leave and come back, and are addicted to, and are derisive of....Oh wait, that's a FAMILY! Anyway, I'm thankful I have this place to go to a dozen times a day.

2. The election results, of course. Exciting years to come, hope I'm not disappointed.

3. Thankful for AAR.

4. Thankful that Olberman, Stewart and Colbert are on our side.

5. Thankful that Nancy Pelosi is our new Speaker....breaking ground for women politically.

6. Thankful for the ACLU...jeez, what kind of country would we have if there was no organization like this?

7. Thankful for O'Rielly, Malkin, Coulter, Medved, Fox News....it is so much fun making fun of them....it unites us when nothing else does! lol

8. The internet and lefty blogs, in particular.....noting like keeping track of the blogs and seeing our views expressed by others, so we don't think we are crazy/alone for thinking them.

9. Skinner and DU.....oh, I said that. Gonna say it twice!

2006 mid term elections.

2. I am thankful

for all the NGOs and charities out there fighting poverty, homelessness and disease, in this country and other parts of the world (most especially war torn areas these days).

I am thankful for all the indefatigable environmental and animal welfare organizations out there.

I am thankful for and have great gratitude towards all those people out there, who live on a pittance so that they can make other people's lives better-social workers, activists, doctors without borders, etc....


I guess I am thankful above all that selflessness and kindness still exist in this libertarian consumeristic world. As someone who does not earn a living working to help others, I am very humbly obligated to and grateful for all those out there who do :toast:
