Apparently Pelosi is reading The Art Of War, by Sun Tzu
Edited on Wed Nov-22-06 03:12 PM by boolean
"All warfare is based on deception. If your enemy is superior, evade him. If angry, irritate him. If equally matched, fight and if not: split and re-evaluate"

From wikipedia:
The book stresses subtlety and always making it appear like one is trying to achieve something other than one's actual intention.

I see "Impeachment is off the table" as deception and re-evaluation. A subtle way of fucking with them. No way, after investigations, will the Democrats NOT push impeachment. I also see the break of tradition by getting to work before the state of the union as a beautiful irritation of an angry GOP. Again, she's fucking with them.

I can't wait to see the chimp go down in flames when all that evidence starts getting put down on the record, when the general population (45% who already favor impeachment) begins to push for his ouster. Forget Hillary as the first woman president. Nancy Pelosi for president! Either in 2008, or sooner, when they kick both bush and cheney to the curb where they belong!

1. I hope you're right...
Pelosi has disappointed me in the past. Now it's time for her to demonstrate what she's really made of.

19. Yes, boolean,
I believe you're right on. Hopefully, she will be as firm in her resolve regardless of
the accusations re: Lying, as was the pathetic "cry" from many here!

Neither, rain, nor sleet, nor snow, nor the crying of despairing posters, deter her from her appointment with destiny. Demolishing the VRW once and for all and in proper order.

Hopefully you are correct, though.

3. when the investigations get rolling
the shock of what is revealed will be so great that
the Republicans will bring up articles of impeachment themselves,
in order to stop the bleeding.

14. Nixon's impeachment was bi-partisan
And one of the things he was impeached for was ignoring Congressional subpenoas...

And didn't Cheney say he would ignore subpenoas?

President Pelosi, anybody?

Our nation has written into our Constitution the ability to correct these mistakes, these illegal acts, these scandals. But we have to have the guts and strength to use that ability.

Article 2 Section 4 gives us that ability, if we have the guts to use it.

(ooo, look, brass nuts!)

6. Rangel has obviously already read it -
Talking about a draft, when the real intent is genuine discussion of the war, NOT a draft. By focusing on the draft, it becomes obvious how inappropriate a draft would be.

11. Exactly
Rangel doesn't REALLY want a draft. He knows it'll fail no matter how much he pushes it. He's just doing what all the Democrats ought to be doing.

13. Then he didn't comprehend it. The key is misdirection and guile.
Rangle's proposal is anything but. People hear it and think one of two things:
1) dishonest and stupid
2) just stupid.

Sun Tzu wouldn't stop in the middle of vanquishing his foes to fake a retreat into one box canyon for the purposes of retreating into another box canyon.

8. knowing one's self
How well does she know 'ourself'.

If you know the enemy and know yourself, your victory will not stand in doubt; if you know Heaven and know Earth, you may make your victory complete.

9. Impeachment is off the table
as the stated purpose of the next congress. Once the machinery kicks into gear it will happen as the natural result of one of the investigations - just not as the REASON for the investigation. At least that's what I believe.

17. Exactly
Otherwise he's been charged with crimes without an investigation. Congress should investigate, let the American public watch the investigations unfold ala Watergate, see what is uncovered and proceed from there. The result of letting the public watch is so they have some understanding of how crooked this administration has been and what it has kept from them in the name of national security.

It'll take time for investigations to bear fruit, and we can also expect further "gifts" from the Abramoff and Libby cases. While these are unfolding, the Dems need to show substantive progress on many issues which bedevil most Americans: health care, wages, Iraq, money in politics, the deficit, tax justice, corrupted voting system, etc. When (not "if") the administration's perfidy is revealed the Dems will be in a stronger position to go with it.
I think that the apparent rush to action, as evidenced by Pelosi's 100 hr. strategy, also keeping Congress in session through January, plus reform efforts already announced by Kerry (small business health insurance), Leahy (Patriot Act) and others are all aiming at one thing---make an immediate positive impact so as to have a strategic advantage.
