State Investigates Postings of Person Claiming To Be Police Officer

Associated Press

SANTA FE — State officials are investigating comments made on a Web site by a person who claims to be a state police officer in Española.
Some of the attributes listed on the Web site match a particular officer, but state Department of Public Safety spokesman Peter Olson said investigators do not believe the person on the Web site is a police officer.
The comments are being posted on a Web site for Denver Broncos fans called The Orange Mane by a person going by the online identity of Steve Tensi13. Steve Tensi is a former Broncos quarterback who wore jersey No. 13 and last played in 1970.
SteveTensi13, in a message posted the day after Election Day, wrote: "I'll tell you one thing, when I go back to work, the first vehicle I see with a pro-democrat bumper sticker will get a nice visit from the friendly policeman and that friendly policeman just might find some incriminating drugs in said vehicle. I'm not saying, I'm just saying.''
In his profile, SteveTensi13 claims to be a 42-year-old Hispanic who served in the U.S. Air Force.
The Web writer also claims to have made more than 200 drunken driving arrests, retrieved thousands of dollars in stolen property and investigated child molestation cases.
Olson said investigators checked state-owned computers Monday to see if the Web site had been accessed.

1. I'm not sure if I hope he IS a police officer
or if he isn't.

The suggestion that he might plant drugs (if he is) should be prosecutable, or at least get him kicked off the force, and, if he isn't, well...impersonation IS a crime, after all.

3. Boastful braggard. Stupid, boastful braggard!!! Now, I really am WONDERING
Is he unemployed? Middle aged? No driver's license? Living in his mama's basement?

He's clearly of borderline intelligence and someone who doesn't understand the concept of "too much information:"

"Thank God I'm a cop just in case Martial law is called for!" SteveTensi13 wrote in another comment. "It's good to have power over the little people!" Other comments made derogatory statements about illegal Mexican nationals and Hispanics....In his profile, SteveTensi13 describes himself as a "conservative, born again Christian, gun toting, homophobic, meat eating, 4 X 4 driving all American." He says he is located in Española, "the armpit of the southwest."

The person also stated that he got married in late September, had two tort claims filed against him in late August, isn't very tall, played high-school football, wears glasses and contacts and was stationed in North Dakota while in the Air Force in 1984.

What the fuck IS it with these people? Do they think that hateful and idiotic statements like that will make them, what, POPULAR? LOVED? By a bunch of strangers on the internets?? My favorite line of that article:

Peter Olson, spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety, said department officials do not believe the person is a state police officer, but if he is, "he won't be a police officer for long."

Damn. It's sick on the one hand, but ya gotta shake your head at the sheer stupidity of the guy. That's really a 'fencepost-dumb' attitude he's got working, there...

Hmmm....if he's not a cop, I'm guessing he's the police barracks janitor! Or the clown who cleans the puke out of the patrol cars!!!!

4. Sounds like a cop wannabe.
A part-time night security guard at a shopping mall, wanted to be a cop but couldn't pass the psych exam. The kind of guy who, if he ever actually made it through police officer training, would get his department sued on a regular basis, and would eventually get caught on video beating the snot out of some black or Hispanic guy.

7. It's cuz they pretend so often......
Most of them pretend they are police officers, active duty military, or veterans. But, reading their post and listening to them on C-Span's Washington Journal it's easy to spot the pretenders.

They pretend and tell the lies so much that they convince themselves eventually that it is true, and they live the delusion.

Many others morph into professionals based on the topic of the threads, as in.... "as a ________ for _____ years my opinion is _________.

9. Cops or Soldiers--or both
Edited on Wed Nov-22-06 08:55 PM by lolly
I tend to believe that most of the right-wingers on any message board who claim to be either police officers or soldiers (sometimes, a veteran who's now on the police force) are lying. It's part of the whole right-wing mancrush on tough guys in uniform (none of which, incidentally, translates into any real benefit like supporting better wages and benefits and union membership for these guys).

One sports board where I lurk had a guy who claimed to be a WWII vet--used to brag about punching out "hippie punks" even at his age, etc. etc. He ate up all the "greatful thanks" threads that appeared every Veterans or Memorial Day. Someone finally pieced together all the inconsistencies in his stories, and after putting up a little bit of a fight, he cut and ran, as far as I know.
