Here's an e-mail I sent to a local right wing radio host.
Scott V.
He didn't say we'd never go to war if there was a draft.
What he said was "if there had been a draft in 2003, the U.S. never would have gone to war because politicians wouldn't want to put their own sons and daughters in harm's way"
Of course any who voted for the resolution, or believed this administration only wanted to force inspections were fools.
The inspectors were inspecting and saying there was no need to go to war because they weren't finding anything.
The administration ignored them, and ridiculed them through their media.
If there'd been a draft in 2003, it wouldn't have been so politically easy to do that, or to have continued the occupation for so long.
You'd also find it much harder to sell waging preemptive war on Iran Syria Venezuela etc,or any questionable war, if there was a draft.
Barring having war declared on us, I personally don't support a draft.
It's better that we realize our limitations under the current circumstances and act accordingly.
You know, or you should know by now, that Al Qaeda is one of the smallest and least influential of all the recognized groups making up the insurgency in Iraq.
The overwhelming majority of insurgents in Iraq are not outsiders to Iraq.
They fight Al Qaeda, along with fighting us and each other.
If we leave, Al Qaeda has no prospect of taking over in Iraq or anywhere else outside of their safe haven in northern Pakistan.
If we leave, the overwhelming majority of insurgents in Iraq have no intention of coming here to kill anyone.
You spread irrational fears.
If any terrorist training camps should get set up, we can always drop bombs on them.
That would be a lot cheaper than what we're doing now.
Also the man you call a dwarf, Dennis Kucinich, is right.
If you cut the funding, you end the war, no matter what this or any administration thinks.
I sometimes wonder if what you're doing is a parody of your typical right wing radio insult comic clown, or should I say right wing radio insult comic clone.
If you actually think there's a future in being part of the evil movement that calls itself conservative, think again.
More and more people are recognizing the cons of the so called conservative movement, and fewer and fewer people are believing it.
As long as the so called conservative movement's lie machine remains intact, the more ridiculous it will become as it gets further and further away from reality.
And thank you for taking my call a week or two ago.
That you take real calls rather than relying on scripted shills, or call screening to the point of eliminating anyone who might have an effective argument to make against your's, well, that puts you far above those syndicated flim flam artists who dare not do so.
