Simpson: I did book project to pay bills
LOS ANGELES -
O.J. Simpson said Wednesday that he knew any profit from his "If I Did It" book would be "blood money," but that he took part in the project to pay his bills.

"It's all blood money and unfortunately I had to join the jackals," Simpson told The Associated Press, referring to authors of books about him. "It helped me get out of debt and secure my homestead."

Simpson also said in telephone interviews this week that he saw the book as a way to provide for his children financially.

10. His football pension is at least 25K per month. This was
disclosed during the civil trial. Also it cannot be used to pay the judgement. So, no need to worry about oj's finances. He's doing better than most.

14. Well, lets consider a few things:
He blew a lot of his money defending himself in court (for a case in which he was found guilty of no crime), he lost judgements in the civil suits and has had to pay the families and survivors of his alleged victims, and who knows how much goes to his kids.

Additionally, who knows how much goes to property taxes each year (you pay those if you're making money or not) and other expenses.

He hasn't worked since 1995.

And, least of all, lets not forget all the money he lost when he divorced Nicole (which many speculated may have been a motivating factor)

2. Maybe if he stopped playing golf he'd have more. And he had
the cojones to call it 'blood money'? Jeeze. His kids must be impressed.

OJ should have him dead to rights any day now... :sarcasm:

4. The dude was a football hero, a half-baked actor, and a
successful defendant in a murder trial.

I SERIOUSLY don't think he needed to write "Had I done it, this is how I would have stabbed my ex-wife and her lover to death" to get a few bucks.

A simple biography that TOUCHED on the case would probably have been enough.

5. Are you f'n kidding!?
He gets something like $400,000.00 a year football pension.

Yeah, that'd be really hard to live on.

13. Are you kidding about that pension?
My god, that is unreal. Does every football player get that, or more?

19. I have no idea what other players get,
but I can tell ya, I was stunned when I read about the amount of his pension. Apparently, the courts can't touch it, or the house he owns in FL.

Rough life, hey?

6. Rocknation: OJ did book project to dangle money in front of victims' families
with no regard of the implications of effectively bragging to his children that he's gotten away with murdering their mother.

9. That jury was held hostage until they acquitted. GUILTY. Period.
We already know he did it.

How immmoral of him to profit from it, as well.

His kids will figure it all out for themselves some day.

12. Darn-----
450 thousand a year for a pension from the NFL. All the money he makes for personal appearances, selling his products. Maybe if he would slow down a little he wouldn't have bills.

17. You beat me to it! LOL

But we all know what this really is. Expect the bizarre, self-destructive, quasi-confessional behavior next. Just like Michael Jackson's up to.

Humans do strange things when they've committed a crime and later want to be caught for it.
