Also, notice his screen name.

Of course if these kids were not being medicated and they ended up going on a murdering spree (a la Columbine)
I was a hyperactive kid and a bipolar adult. I was unmedicated as a child but was, for a time, heavily medicated as adult. With exercise and diet, I was able to get completely off meds.

I haven't been on a murder spree. Don't you think your comment might be a rather poor generalization.

1. You can't exercise your way out of needing lithium
An unmedicated bi-polar is a time bomb of varying degrees.

2. And that is always the big problem with bi-polars
getting them to take their medications consistently and on time. They tend to have a habit of trying to rationalize there is nothing wrong with them and the results always end up badly.

But this post just caught my attention as being at the core of what is wrong with freepers and why they behave like they do. They simply will not avail themselves to the help they most desperately need even when it is available too them.

3. Oh, hell yeah.
I had a bi-polar girlfriend for a while (short while). When I met her she was taking lithium and was fairly normal. After a month or so (because she was so happy with our relationship), she decides she doesn't need her meds anymore... Holy crap! Things got very wiggy really fast.

4. Yep, that'll do it
My wife is bi-polar and before I agreed to marry her I had her sing a release so that I could talk with her psychiatrist about her long term prognosis and her past history. Her real strong point was that she did take her medicine regularly and so that greatly reduced her risk potential. In 17 years I have only had a problem once with her not taking her medication and that was resolved quickly before the matter got out of hand.

Bi-polars must take there medication correctly and if they do they can and will live normal and happy lives and never end up on Freerepublic.com. That within itself should be enough motivation to take one's medication.
