I'd rather spend Thanksgiving with the repub side of my family

than with the dem side. OK, to be honest, my in-laws are actually my ex-in-laws, and the dem side in my born into family, but I'm still close with my ex and his family. Yes, they're all repubs, though not terribly political, but they're great people, it's a big rollicking, loving crowd. My family are all liberal dems, very political, and also some of the most self-righteous, snobby folks this side of the New Canaan line. Just saying that politics ain't all there is when it comes to family get togethers.

I have lost so many family members; politics shouldn't intefere with holidays and loved ones.

Some of our more liberal family members (my in-laws) are quite the dour bunch at times.

There was one side who thought they were Repubs, but I converted them to the Dem side - they were no more fun than us Dems. Enjoy your Repubs, though I have no idea why you had to come to a Democratic site to tell us this.
