A wonderful Thanksgiving to all |
|
Today as we sit with our families and friends celebrating the birth of what has become one of the greatest nations on the earth, let us remember those that do not have the opportunity that each and every one of us has been blessed with in our daily lives.
Take time as you travel to be with your family to stop off at a local food bank and donate a bit of food to feed the hungry. Take the time to dig in your pocket to give to that person on the corner asking for your help. Thanksgiving is not only about what we have, but it is also about trying to bring joy to those that are not as blessed as we may be.
Include in your prayers the hope that one day all of the people in our world will be free from hunger and sickness, and that we as a race of people will share equally the joy that family, love and success brings us.
Enjoy your day, but never for a moment forget that somewhere, there is a family that is not able to celebrate in the same manner that we can.
Every year for the last 20, my late husband made sure that the homeless in our town were afforded the chance to sit and eat with our family.
Today will be no different for me in that regard, The invitation has gone out, and my family will be blessed with some of our less fortunate members of society.
God be with you all today in everything you do. When praying for all that we have to be thankful for, pray also that one day soon, with the help of our new leadership to come, We as a nation will once again rise up to the challenge of helping others regardless of their skin color, or their education level, or their place of birth.
The words "All men are created equal" have little meaning without the actions behind them to ensure that the equality continues beyond their birth.
God Bless you all and have a safe and prosperous day of thanks.
Ellen.

Comes from my faith in the Lord and the Knowledge that Ed is looking down at us all right now, a smile on his face, and no more pain. As hard as it is to lose a loved one, it is even harder to watch them suffer.
Today, I thank God for making a place in his kingdom for Ed to share. Today, I thank God for each and every one of you that are willing to fight for those that are too weak, or too forgotten to fight for themselves.
One day (I hope many years from now)we will all be together in the kingdom of God as equals without needs or wants. In the meantime, It is our duty to try and comfort those around us that need comfort.

5. I fear that 'sickness' may be with us for a very long time, but..... |
|
there is no reason that people on this planet are hungry when there is so much largesse in most western nations. I think it is unconscionable that children go to bed hungry while evangelicals build monstrous cathedrals as paean to their egos. Shame on them and shame for their hypocrisy when they profess to worship the 'Prince of Peace'. WWJD - well, I know he wouldn't do what they are doing - I'm betting that he would take that money earmarked for gold faucets or Armani suits (hear that Joel) and feed hungry children/people.

Thank you so much for your message. One thing I count as among my blessings, is the knowledge that people like you and your husband have given hope and encouragement to others, and have acted in ways that inspire us to do likewise, and help, too. You are a rare and compassionate person, and I send to you my deepest wishes that you will always be surrounded by love, and that you will continue to be an inspiration to the rest of us. You and eggbeater are reasons for giving thanks, and for continuing to make us all do just a little bit more to help others.

That is beautiful.
I have a shield around my life. Very few can enter. You are much bigger and freer than I. Maybe through your example I can also some day be more open and kind.
