Bush Serves Plump, Juicy Turkey to U.S. Troops in Iraq! (From the "Stupid Bush Tricks" Files, 2003)

Bush's Baghdad Bird A Decoration
WASHINGTON, Dec.. 4, 2003
------------------------------------------------------------------------
(AP)
(CBS) That beautiful golden-brown turkey President Bush held during his surprise visit to U.S. troops in Iraq was for show, not for eating, the Washington Post reports...

The newspaper reported that in response to questions about the bird, the White House said the turkey was a decoration adorning the steam table where GIs picked up their food on cafeteria-style trays. The White House said the bird had been furnished by a contractor, and that officials had no idea that the turkey would be in the mess hall, or that the president would pick up the trophy turkey.

The Post quoted military sources as saying that a decorative turkey was a standard feature of holiday chow lines.

1. Nothing like a genuine plastic turkey to stimulate the appetite.
The one on the plate, not the server.

2. I knew the first time I saw this picture, before they disclosed
that the gorgeous bird was plastic that something didn't add up. His elbows were too far from the body and so was the platter. He would have to be phenomenally strong to hold a platter with a 15-20 pound hot bird with trimmings in such a manner. At the time the newsmen were reporting that he spent several hours a day in the WH gym, so I was angry at him for pumping iron when he should have been attending to matters of state

4. How perfectly ironic....
Bush offering real Americans a perfectly posed fraud of a benefit when the real deal could be genuinely had.....
