Poll Says Majority Of Christian Right Won't Vote For Romney, A Mormon

<snip>

As JABBS noted last year, the Southern Baptist Convention website has characterized the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as a "cult." The influential Christian right group Focus on the Family declares that "God cannot be identified . . . with the Mormon religion's notion of god."

2. The fundies do not consider the Mormons to be "real" Christians
They barely treat Catholics as real Christians (and some, like Bob Jones, outright do not accept them).

Mitt Romney is only the Governor of Massachusetts because his opponent in 2002 ran a shit campaign. There is no evidence that he has any support in the Republic Party.

8. And the Catholic Church believes you need to be a Catholic to "make it".
Pentecostals don't believe that anybody other than them will be saved. It's a pretty common belief among many denominations, sects, and cults. Otherwise it wouldn't matter where you went to church. So many claim to have the exclusive ticket to heaven.

12. and that's the point
The Democrats have had a Jewish VP, a Woman VP, a Catholic President and a Catholic candidate for president, all in the last 46 years.

The GOP talks a good game about the big tent, and points to Michael Steele and Ken Blackwell. But a significant chunk of the right wing of GOP voter pool, for whatever reason, isn't interested.

It doesn't help that you have the Glenn Becks of the world, asking Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), Congress' first Muslim, what proof he has that he isn't tied to Al Qaeda. That isn't an isolated emotion, methinks.

5. Romney’s ranked #8 in the top 10 RINO’s (Republicans in name only)
They do not trust Romney at all..

"8. Gov. Mitt Romney (Mass.)
Has said, “I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country.” Supports civil unions and stringent gun laws. After visiting Houston, he criticized the city’s aesthetics, saying, “This is what happens when you don’t have zoning.”

10. Even before he was elected, Der Mittenfuhrer loved to insult Massachusetts
From Massachusetts GOP News

<snip>

Mitt Romney tried a few years back and the Kennedy machine almost blew a gasket. I can still hear Mitt saying that he visited so many desperate towns around the commonwealth telling people he was running for the Senate. People would tell him “this is Kennedy country”. Mitt would look around at the boarded up buildings and the drug dealers and say, “Yeah, it looks like Kennedy country”. Thank you Governor Romney for that most memorable moment.
