Pelosi's Next Big Call
"The incoming House Speaker already made a questionable move backing the losing candidate in the race for Majority Leader. Will she stumble again by choosing a member with a checkered past to lead the House Intelligence Committee?"

http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1562293,00.html

This stuff with Pelosi is starting to look real bad.

3. I agree. The right-wing media would have a field day with
a Hastings appointment. Look what they tried to dredge up on Murtha! Isn't Harmon being investigated for something, too? I think that compromise (Hispanic) candidate sounds like a good solution. Sorry I can't remember his name right now.

5. Sylvestre Reyes
I think that's his name; and yes, I'd want him over Harmon and Hastings. Skinner should start a petition drive and call Pelosi's office over this. We do not need a Hastings appointment.

I just wonder why the media is echoing this thing about how we NEED to keep Harman.

14. I've heard Rush Holt(NJ) being mentioned too
he would be good, he was in military intelligence so he has the clearance.

15. It isn't so much the impeachment
Clinton was impeached too but both were not guilty. He has a lot of debt, around a million dollars, that it would seem would be the security risk more than having been impeached which is political.

Perception counts.

7. I have to disagree.
Edited on Thu Nov-23-06 05:03 PM by Kagemusha
I've supported Democrats for long enough to know that the (D) at the end of the name matters a lot more in terms of media bias than the gender of the person. I can't possibly imagine a male Democratic Speaker of the House NOT being looked at with a magnifying glass. It is absolutely inconcievable to me that it could be any other way.

A Speaker can act above the fray if he or she so chooses. Pelosi didn't, unlike men like, for instance, Hastert. There's no reason to expect her to be treated with kid gloves.

(Edited for subject line volume.)

9. She's earned the right to be attacked like a man.
Let her take it and move on. She's the one who asked for this, and she's the one who attracted extra attention for backing the losing horse in the majority leader race, which she did not have to do.

16. I have a feeling that she would have attracted attention if she
had backed the winning horse.

other than she is denying them the candy they want so badly and want now?

12. Yeah, well, I'm wondering why the M$M has such a universal hard-on to keep a Hawk like Harman
Edited on Thu Nov-23-06 05:55 PM by impeachdubya
in such a, quote, "sensitive post".

Methinks they doth protest WAY too fucking much. We need to get some action on these illegal wiretaps, and if Harman won't do it, we need someone who will.
